Abstract

The present invention is related to a biological contact rotor shield for aerating wastewater in plants for treating wastewater for sanitation purposes and to reduce the organic pollutant content thereof. The invention is of the type formed by a drive shaft provided with end supports for coupling same to a drive motor and comprising a plurality of annular collars arranged equidistantly from one another. The aforementioned collars can receive a plurality of radially-arranged structural arms in a fixed manner. The aforementioned structural arms are substantially T shaped and are defining a vertical straight element, which upper end portion has at least a horizontal straight element attached thereto. Each end portion of said horizontal straight elements is fixed to the end portions of a further horizontal straight element of an adjacent structural arm, where the plurality of horizontal straight elements of adjacent arms defines a structural polygonal ring in each annular collar; two adja cent polygonal rings are adapted to receive and fix packs of media for generating a higher surface of contact and aeration for promoting the proliferation of aerobic bacteria intended to digest the organic pollutant content.
