Abstract

The bifunctional screw for dental implant has a better stability upon being inserted into the bone through the modification of the geometry thereof. This device has two sections; the first section, located a the upper portion, includes a thread space and depth lower than that of a second section, since this part, upon inserting the implant into the cortical bone (hard bone), is surrounded by the bone in order to have a better fastening action in this area. The second section is different from the first section since the space and depth of the threads is higher; this achieves a higher contact area between the bone and the implant. An important characteristic of the device is that it has a squared-type thread, with which it has been confirmed that reduced shearing efforts are present at the moment an occlusal load is applied. A further characteristic is that the invention has an inner connection, with an apex end, the upper portion of the first section including a buttress connected to the crown, the visible portion of the teeth.

Description

Bifiincional screw for Dental Implant OBJECT OF THE INVENTION The present invention mentions a threaded screw-type mechanical element for dental implant which presents an improvement in mechanical stability with respect to common dental implants; these characteristics are important to achieve a better osseointegration, which is the structural and functional connection between the living tissue and the surface of the implant. It is thus, that the primary stability is improved, with the modification of the screw geometry for dental implant.
There are three types of stresses that are present in the teeth when an occlusal load is applied: tension, compression and shear stress. It has been proven that when a shear stress occurs, the bone becomes weaker, so this screw for dental implant, reduces these efforts.
BACKGROUND Several research articles mention comparisons between the different models of dental implants that exist in the market; According to the article: "Stress-based performance evaluation of osseointegrated dental implants by finite-element simulation", the designs presented have a type of thread, which is not placed from the beginning of the device; This thread has an equal spacing throughout the entire implant, and there is no variation in the depth of it. In another article: "Biomechanical simulation of various surface roughnesses and geometric designs on an implanted implant implant", the designs presented have a ridge, which is the initial part of the device, without thread, which covers approximately ¼ part of the thyme; in the article: "Predicting time-dependent remodeling of bone around loaded dental implants with different designs" is the comparison between two commercial implants, which likewise present a crest without thread and the depth and distance of the threads remain without variation throughout the entire device.
Currently there are various models of dental implants, which can be of various types: cylindrical, threaded, conical or combinations of these. The threads are those that have had better results and there are designs with different types of threads, such as square or "V" termination. There is also a variety in the width of the threads (depth), as well as two different types of threading along the implant in "V" termination.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES Figure 1. Side view of the bifunctional screw for dental implant Figure 2. Perspective view of the bifunctional thyme for dental implant.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION This bifunctional screw for dental implant, arises in response to the need to achieve better stability, through the variation of the thread and the depth of the same along the bifunctional screw, taking as a reference the place where it is inserted. One reason, to achieve the aforementioned stability, is that the bifunctional screw for dental implant is inserted into the jaw, where there are (as in all bones) two types of bone tissue: cortical bone which is the hardest outer layer and the spongy bone that is more dense. When the dental implant is inserted, the upper part is surrounded by cortical bone, so this feature is used that the bone is hard, to place a greater number of threads and there is a better support between bone and dental implant. Another factor, which increases stability, is the reduction of shearing forces, which is achieved thanks to the square thread type.
The bifunctional screw for dental implant, is a threaded type element preferably with internal connection, which has a square thread along the entire element; However, this bifunctional screw has variations in the space between thread and thread, being able to describe two sections: a first section (1), which covers about a 1/5 of the length of the bifunctional screw, where find a smaller spacing between the cords with respect to a second section (2); in turn, the depth of the thread in the first section (1) is smaller than in the second section (2).
The second section (2) starts immediately after the first section (1); where the spacing is greater between each string, but not gradual along this section; in turn, the depth of the cords in the second section (2) is greater than in the first section (1) and even greater than in the commercial implants, highlighting that the depth is not gradual throughout the second section ( 2), that is, it is the same depth.
The second section (1) of the bifunctional screw for dental implant ends at the apex, which is the part of the bifunctional screw, which has the first contact with the bone; On the other hand, at the beginning of the first section (1) is where a buttress is placed, which is the part that connects the bifunctional screw for dental implant with a crown. Said crown, is the visible part in the denture, since the bifunctional screw is inserted in the bone.
Preferred example.
From the investigation in relation to screws of dental implants, it was found that the average to be able to make dental implants with greater stability, lies in having a bifunctional screw for dental implant, of 4 mm. in diameter by 10 mm in length with about 9 square-type threads distributed not uniformly throughout the entire device. For the first section, there is a distance between strings of 0.3 mm, while for the second section, there is a distance between strings of 0.9 mm.
In addition, the depth of the strings in the first section is 0.3 mm, while in the second section, it is 0.75 mm.
