Abstract
Se describen técnicas para soportar servicios de localización en una arquitectura de localización de plano de usuario tal como la Localización Segura de Plano de Usuario (SUPL - Secure User Plane Location). En un aspecto, una terminal le informa a un servidor de localización las capacidades de servicio de la terminal. El servidor de localización utiliza las capacidades de servicio para solicitar únicamente servicios de localización soportados por la terminal y para evitar la solicitud de servicios de localización no soportados. La terminal genera un mensaje que contiene sus capacidades de servicio y envía el mensaje mediante un plano de usuario, por ejemplo, una SUPL. El servidor de localización recibe el mensaje, obtiene las capacidades de servicio de la terminal y almacena estas capacidades de servicio para futuras sesiones de localización iniciadas en red con la terminal. El servidor de localización determina si un servicio de localización es soportado por la terminal con base en las capacidades de servicio de la terminal. El servidor de localización se comunica con la terminal mediante el plano de usuario para el servicio de localización si es soportado por la terminal.
