Abstract

When mixing two gases of different temperature and/or composition in a converter for producing SO3 from an SO2-containing gas, a first gas flow is introduced into a mixing chamber from below, whereas a second gas flow is countercurrently introduced into the mixing chamber from above. The gas mixture obtained in the mixing chamber is discharged from the mixing chamber via an upwardly directed connecting tube and supplied to a heat exchanger integrated in the converter.
