Abstract
En un método para ranurar un tubo, un revestimiento sacrificante se inserta dentro del tubo y se expande en forma radial hacia el contacto contra la superficie interna de la pared del tubo, por lo cual las cuchillas giratorias se inclinan a través de la pared del tubo y parcialmente dentro del revestimiento sacrificante. El revestimiento sacrificante evita la formación de mechas y evita que los cortes y el fluido de corte entren en el interior del tubo, lo cual facilita la producción de tubos ranurados libres de mechas que requieren una limpieza post-ranurado reducida. Un aparato para implementar el método incorpora un sub-montaje de sello fijo y un sub-montaje de sello móvil, que se pueden interconectar para formar un montaje alargado que se puede ajustar para acomodar diferentes longitudes del tubo. Un revestimiento de re-uso cilíndrico está dispuesto alrededor de los sub-montajes de sello móvil y fijos ensamblados y con el tamaño para insertarse dentro del revestimiento sacrificante. El revestimiento de re-uso puede expandir el revestimiento sacrificante. De preferencia, el método de ranurado utiliza cuchillas de ranurado con dientes curvilíneos más delgados que el cuerpo principal de cuchilla, para producir corte que son más estrechos que el ancho terminado de la ranura, y por lo tanto, son más fáciles de retirar de las ranuras durante las operaciones de ranurado.
