Abstract

Developed is a two-stage RF generator for feeding the amplifier of a CO2 wave guide laser, which uses a power oscillator for producing a signal that feeds a single-stage amplifier. A further important part of the invention is that the RF generator does not require an impedance coupling circuit to be connected to the laser, this latter characteristic allowing the RF generator to be electrically and directly connected to the laser amplification means. The aforementioned characteristic requires that the laser and the generator have the same impedance value at the inlet and outlet respectively in the interval of 40 ohm to 75 ohms, preferably 50 ohms; with which the maximum transference of electric power is attained therebetween, also allowing the output optical power of the laser to be modulated between 9 W and 16 W. The present development reduces the complexity of the design and the costs associated with the same by only using two specialized semiconducting devices.
