Abstract

This invention relates to a pesticidal composition against ticks, in particular on cattle, having flumethrin and fluazuron as its active ingredients. In addition to the above active ingredients the composition may include N-methylpyrrolidone, dipropylene glycol monomethyl ether and, optionally, a dye as a carrier and adjuvants.

Description

PESTICIDE COMPOSITION FIELD OF THE INVENTION This invention relates to a pesticidal composition. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Many compounds are available for pesticidal applications in animals. In many cases, especially for the control of ticks, it is desirable to have a composition for pouring. It is desirable that said compositions have a good fulminating effect and prolonged persistence. At present, however, most of the available compositions have one or other of these qualities, but rarely both. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is an object of this invention to provide a pesticidal pouring composition that alleviates the aforementioned problem. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION In accordance with this invention, a pesticidal pouring composition is provided characterized in that the active ingredients include flumethrin and fluazuron. Other features of the invention provide that the composition contains from 9 to 11 g / 1 of flumethrin and from 20 to 40 g / 1 of fluazuron, preferably 10 g / 1 of flumethrin and 25 g / 1 of fluazuron. Other additional features of the invention REF. : 194964 provide that the composition includes a vehicle and adjuvants; that these possibly include N-methylpyrrolidone, dipropylene glycol monomethyl ether and optionally a dye, and that these are from 196 to 241 g / 1, preferably from 210 to 230 g / 1, particularly preferably from 215 to 225, in particular about 218, 8 g / 1 of N-methylpyrrolidone; from 649 to 794 g / 1, preferably from 670 to 771 g / 1, particularly preferably from 700 to 740 g / 1, in particular about 721 g / 1 of dipropylene glycol monomethyl ether and, optionally, from 0.09 to 0, 11 g / 1, in particular 0.10 g / 1 of patent blue dye. The following example illustrates an embodiment of a pesticide composition for pouring manufactured according to the invention. EXAMPLE 1 A pesticidal composition is prepared for pouring by mixing the following compounds: Flumethrin * 10.0 g / 1 Fluazuron * 25.0 g / 1 N-methylpyrrolidone 218.76 g / 1 Dipropylene glycol monomethyl ether 721.48 g / 1 Colorant blue patent 0,1 g / 1 * amounts that assume 100% potency of flumethrin and fluazuron If power adjustment is necessary, the monomethyl ether of dipropylene glycol is used to compensate the volumetric changes. The dipropylene glycol monomethyl ether used was sold under the trade name "Dowanol DPM". The dye is optional and, when not used, the monomethyl ether of dipropylene glycol completes the volume. The composition thus obtained can be used as a product for dumping against ticks in animals, in particular livestock. A preferred application dose, in particular for cattle, is 1 ml / 10 kg which corresponds to flumethrin from 0.9 to 1.1 mg / kg, preferably 1 mg / l; fluazuron of 2 to 4 mg / kg, preferably 2.5 mg / kg. Other application doses may be appropriate depending on the situation in the respective case. The composition has been found to provide a fulminant effect on comparable to improved ticks and a persistence that flumethrin by itself and a longer persistence than fluazuron by itself against blue ticks Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) decoloratus. It was found that the increased persistence was at least 35 days against blue ticks Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) decoloratus resistant to pyrethroids and at least 60 days against blue ticks Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) susceptible decoloratus, which is superior to the 48 days shown against to ticks susceptible to fluazuron when used alone. Therefore, the composition is superior to any of these two known products used individually, indicating an unexpected synergistic effect, since the dose rate of the invention represents a 16.7% decrease in the application rate of fluazuron. This mechanism of this synergistic effect is not yet understood. It will be appreciated that many other embodiments of an existing pesticidal composition fall within the scope of the invention., particularly in relation to the concentration of the active compounds and the vehicles used. Any suitable vehicle and adjuvant can be used in the proper concentrations. It is noted that in relation to this date, the best method known to the applicant to carry out the aforementioned invention, is that which is clear from the present description of the invention.
