Abstract
Metodo y aparato para separar componentes de suspensiones por sedimentacion por gravedad formando de esta manera una suspension espesada y un liquido clarificado. El aparato comprende un recipiente para decantar un volumen de suspension, un medio de entrada de suspension, una salida para el liquido clarificado, y un aparato de retiro de suspension para remocion de la suspension espesada a partir del recipiente en o cerca de una pared inferior del mismo. El aparato de retiro de suspension acopla fisicamente una porcion de la suspension dentro del interior del recipiente y la transporta a traves de una salida del recipiente. El aparato puede incluir un elemento de forma espiral abierta, alargado, giratorio que se extiende una distancia hacia el recipiente desde fuera cerca de la pared inferior del recipiente, el elemento en forma de espiral abierta estando en comunicacion directa y abierta con el interior del recipiente sobre cuando menos una porcion significativa de la distancia, y un mecanismo de impulsion rotacional para hacer girar el elemento de forma de espiral, cuando menos intermitentemente.
