Abstract

A fitment (6) for a liquid containing pouch (20) wherein the fitment is attached to the top portion of the pouch by sealing the top portion of the pouch together and to the sealing portion of the fitment. The fitment having a straw (7) therein and a removeable cap (8) for sealing the liquid in the pouch. The cap can be removed to allow access to the straw and the liquid in the pouch. The cap ban be replaced on the fitment to reseal the pouch. Since the straw is already in the fitment it is easier to use than liquid containing pouches where the straw has to be inserted into the pouch by breaking a seal. Further the straw in the fitment helps prevent spills and injuries associated with straws having to break the seal of the pouch.

Description

FLEXIBLE STOP BAG WITH INTEGRAL AND INTERNAL POPOTE ASSEMBLY FIELD D? THE INVENTION The invention relates to flexible stopping bags and more particularly to the ngements for drinking straws and spouts.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Stationary bags can be constructed from a wide range of food grade materials including plastics, thin films and laminations or plastic materials and thin films. The assemblies and straws are made of flexible food grade plastic materials. The shapes of the bags vary but generally they are all sealed on three of the four sides. In all cases the assembly / straw is inserted into the opening in the upper part of the bag. The assembly and the top side of this way are sealed together to build a liquid tight seal. There are many stationary bags available with external straw setups. The outer straw pierces through one side of the bag, which creates unsanitary and sometimes unsafe conditions. The assemblies that contain bags eliminate the problems of the straw, not Ref: 188813 However, it becomes necessary to tilt or press the bag to ingest the content. An integral assembly that contains an internal straw has the benefit of straw for drinking and the benefits of assembly free of sanitary problems. The upper part of the drinking hole in the assembly can be manufactured in many different ways including: snap-on closure flaps, snap-on closure flaps that do not open, caps that twist to open and close , caps that are screwed and unscrewed and end closures by compression.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION An object of the invention is to eliminate the need to drill a hole through the bag to insert the straw. An object of the invention is to eliminate the use of ends of tipped straws that can damage the user. An object of the invention is to eliminate splashes caused by the insertion of the straw. An object of the invention is to increase the safety of drinking bags. An object of the invention is to provide reclosable drinking bags. An objective of the invention is to make the sealing of the straw in the bag more hygienic and to avoid Openings around the straw that prevent foreign material from entering the bag. An objective of the invention is to eliminate leaks and related dirt. Another objective of the invention is to ensure that the straw remains inside the drinking bag. Another object of the invention is to provide a secure seal in the drinking bag. Another object of the invention is to provide an easy-to-open drinking bag. Other objects, advantages and novel features of the present invention will become apparent from the following description of the preferred embodiments when considered in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES Figure 1 shows an example of a flexible stop bag containing an internal straw and an integral assembly. Figure 2 shows a side view of the assembly, lid, straw and the tabs to hold the straw in place.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION Figure 1 shows an example of a bag 20 flexible stop containing an internal straw 7 and an integral assembly 6. The flexible stop bag 20 has vertical walls 2, a base 5, sealed sides 3 and 4 and an upper end with a sealing portion 1 containing an assembly 6. The assembly 6 has an internal straw 7 and a screw cap 8. The assembly 6 also has a seal wall 30 for sealing engagement with the sealing portion 1 at the top of the bag. Figure 2 shows the details of the assembly 6 with a screw-type cover 8 which is screwed onto the assembly 6. The screw-type cover 8 also has a ring 9 which makes evident the undue use that is separated from the screw-type cover 8 along perforations 19 so that it becomes evident if the cap 8 has been subjected to misuse. The straw 7 is a straw that moves freely which can be moved up and down in the assembly 6. Initially, the straw is held in place by tabs 10 from the walls of the lid 8 that contact the straw 10. The assembly 6 has a base portion 16 with a sealing portion 1 in the side portion 18 and neck in the top The neck portion 18 may have threads 11 for engagement with the threads 12 on the cover 8. The cover 8 may be of any design and may have ears 15 for holding and flipping the cover. The covers they can be re-sealable snap-on closures, snap-on closures that can not be resealed, caps that are twisted open, caps that are screwed and unscrewed, end caps that are compressed or any other style. The lid 8 has a concave portion to cover the upper part of the straw 7 and is separated from the straw 7 to allow the user access to the straw. The bag 20 stopped with an assembly and internal straw is made by producing the bag and then the assembly 6 on the top of the bag by adhesive sealing and then by completely sealing the assembly in a filled bag. The upper seal 1 of the bag is sealed along seal wall 30 of assembly 6 with assembly 6 in place. The assembly 6 is preferably elongated to help seal the bag. A more elongated or tapered assembly results in a less coiled material on the bag, which results in a better seal and better appearance of the seal on the assembly. The bag mounting collar 25 has a wall 26 for slidingly engaging the straw 7. The straw 7 can therefore be adjusted for a position relative to the bag 20. A user will twist the cap 8 by using the ears 15 which separate the ring 9 that becomes evident the misuse along the perforations 19 that show that the product has been opened. The separation of the cover 8 allows access to the straw 10 which can be adjusted to the desired height in relation to the bag by sliding the straw 7 inside or outside the assembly 6 of the bag. If a resealable cover is used, the threads 12 on the cover 8 can be screwed back onto the threads 11 on the assembly 6 to reseal the standing pouch and retain the contents for later use. Although a stationary bag has been used for illustration, any style of bag can be used. Of course many modifications and variations of the present invention are possible based on the above teachings. Therefore, it should be understood that, within the scope of the appended claims, the invention may be practiced otherwise than specifically described. It is noted that in relation to this date, the best method known to the applicant to carry out the aforementioned invention, is that which is clear from the present description of the invention.
