Abstract
Un codificador de audio en el cual dos o mas codificadores preferiblemente diferentes cooperan para generar una senal codificada de audio de union. Los parametros de codificacion de los dos o mas codificadores son optimizados en respuesta a la medicion de la distorsion de la senal codificada de audio de union de acuerdo con un criterio predeterminado. De preferencia, la medicion de la distorsion es una medicion de distorsion perceptual. En una modalidad de un codificador que comprende un codificador sinusoidal y un codificador de forma de onda, la velocidad total constante de bits para cada cuadro de audio es distribuida entre los dos codificadores para asi minimizar la distorsion perceptual para ambos del primer y del segundo codificadores. Otras modalidades consideran un conjunto de parametros de codificacion, el cual es mas grande que solo aquellos que minimizan la distorsion perceptual del primer codificador. En algunas modalidades, la distorsion perceptual podria ser minimizada mediante la optimizacion de la codificacion por medio de la optimizacion total de los modelos de codificacion, es decir, un conjunto complejo de parametros de codificacion para los codificadores separados. Los codificadores separados podrian estar en cascada o podrian funcionar en paralelo o en una combinacion de estos. De preferencia, dos o mas segmentos de audio son tomados en cuenta en el procedimiento de optimizacion. Un decodificador de audio correspondiente comprende decodificadores separados que corresponden con los codificadores separados del codificador de audio que cifro la senal de audio. Las partes de senal decodificada de estos decodificadores son entonces agregadas a fin de producir la senal final de audio. La codificacion presentada de audio es eficiente y proporciona una alta calidad de sonido debido a que el esquema de codificacion es flexible y se adapta a las demandas especificas para cada extracto de audio.
