Abstract

The present invention refers to a machine for cutting dried maize leaves, which comprises a table-like metallic structure having enough elements for accurately and reliably cutting the maize leaves by being adapted to the shape, figure and length of the maize cob, thus cutting maize cobs regardless of their size and width. The dried-leaf maize cob is held by a fixed counterpoint and a dragging counterpoint. The machine also has a spring member useful for avoiding the separation of the leaves from the cob while it is cut. The blade for cutting the dried leaves is made of a hard material, so that the blade remaining sharp for a long period of time. Said blade is manually descended, the rotating movement of the machine is caused by a 120 V AC engine, said engine actuating both dragging counterpoints being by a band transmission. The machine is started through a panel, this latter element being pressed only when the engine is to be rotated in order to perform the dry leaf cut, the panel b eing released after the leaf is cut. The machine is not only useful for carry out one dry leaf cut, but also for cutting the dry leaf combs, thus increasing the dry leaf production. It is worth to mention that the machine does not require two maize cobs to be correctly actuated.
