Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un método para determinar la saturación de hidrocarburos de una formación atravesada por un pozo de sondeo, caracterizado porque comprende los pasos de, emitir neutrones rápidos dentro de la formación desde una fuente en el pozo de sondeo, detectar señales de espectro de rayos gamma inelásticos en detectores cercano y lejano de dicha fuente en respuesta a rayos gamma producidos durante reacciones nucleares inelásticas entre dicho neutrón rápido y materiales en y de dicho pozo de sondeo y dicha formación, y comparar representaciones de dichas señales de espectro de rayos gamma inelásticos cercanos y lejanos respectivamente con representaciones de modelo predeterminadas de dicho pozo de sondeo y dicha formación para producir una representación de dicha saturación de hidrocarburos en dicha formación sustancialmente corregida por rayos gamma producidos por dichas reacciones nucleares entre dichos neutrones rápidos y dichos materiales en y de dicho pozo de sondeo.
