Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un metodo mejorado para producir acrilato de etilo mediante la reacción de etileno y ácido acrílico en presencia de ácido sulfúrico para obtener acrilato de etilo y un residuo de ácido sulfúrico, que contiene ácido sulfúrico, sulfato ácido de etilo, sulfato de dietilo, ácido acrílico, acrilato de etilo, poliesteres de ácido acrílico y polímeros de lactona, en donde la mejora comprende poner en contacto dicho residuo con un solvente seleccionado del grupo que consiste de agua, un alcohol inferior que tiene de 1 a 4 átomos de carbono o una mezcla acuosa de dicho alcanol, calentar y destilar la mezcla a temperaturas dentro del rango de aproximadamente 50 a 250 grados C, a presiones de aproximadamente 30 mm Hg absoluto hasta 3 atmósferas, para evaporar el ácido acrílico y el acrilato de etilo, y posteriormente, recuperar el ácido acrílico y el acrilato de etilo.
