Abstract

The invention relates to the metal working industry and may be used in different branches of industry for metal cutting.The process for metal plasma arc cutting consists in connecting the terminals of the constant-current source 8 to the inner electrode 1, the nozzle electrode 2 and the cutting metal 9, supply of the cooling liquid into the jacket and of the plasma-forming gas into the discharge chamber of the plasma generator with subsequent ignition of the electric arc, passing through the nozzle electrode 2 and burning between the inner electrode 1 and the metal at the mutual displacement of the plasma generator or of the cutting metal 9. Novelty consists in that the inner electrode 1 is connected to the positive terminal of the power source 8, and the nozzle electrode 2 and the cutting metal - to the negative terminal of the power source 8, at the same time the cutting is carried out with the cathode spot of the plasma arc12.The device for metal plasma arc cutting contains a constant current source 8 and a plasma generator, including a body 7 with branch pipes for cooling liquid 13 and gas 14 supply, fixed into its wall, inside the body 7 there are coaxially placed one above another and connected by means of current leads 5 of the power source 8 an inner copper electrode 1 and a nozzle electrode 2. Novelty consists in that the inner electrode 1, connected to the positive terminal of the power source 8, is made in the form of a sleeve, placed upside-down, the lower part of which is made in the form of cone, with the vertex oriented downwards, and the upper part of the nozzle electrode 2, connected to the negative terminal, is made in the form of cone, the lower part thereof is made cylindrical. The gap, formed between the conic surfaces of the electrodes, communicates with the annular gas swirler 3, fed through the branch pipe 14.
