Invenţia se referă la medicină, în special la neurologia pediatrică.Esenţa invenţiei constă în aceea că se efectuează examenului clinic primar, electropneumografia, cardiointervalografia (CIG). Apoi pe baza parametrilor relevaţi se determină funcţia discriminantă prin formula:F = - 0,872 - 6,216 · MO - 0,062 · CVTIN + 0,668 · ETîn care:MO este mărimea cea mai frecventă a intervalului între undele RR pe CIG, s;CVTIN - coeficientul de variaţie a timpului de inspiraţie;ET - etapa de vârstă a copilului, zile - pentru nou-născuţi, luni - pentru copii până la 1 an;şi în cazul când valoarea F>0 se constată tulburări suprasegmentare, iar când F<0 - tulburări segmentare.
