Abstract

The invention relates to an innovative device for the simultaneous recovery of high-value biomass and water from raw biowaste. This device uses an integrated treatment process that allows the simultaneous recovery of biomass and water from raw biowaste at low cost and high value. The treatment consists of placing this device containing the sample in a closed cabinet (1), illuminated by thermoregulated incandescent bulbs (3) controlled by a thermostat (2). The treatment device (4) comprises an upper biomass recovery part (6) connected to the lower water recovery part (7) by an adjustable connection (11) and the two parts are separated by an external thermal insulator (5). The upper biomass recovery part (6) consists of a funnel (10) connected to a sieve (9) with a diameter ≤ 1 mm and covered by a transparent inclined cover (8). The lower water recovery part (7) of the device consists of two bottles, one external (12) and the other internal (14), separated by an internal thermal insulator (13). The upper part is connected to the lower part of the prototype by a syringe (15) containing an ash biofilter (16). The water contained in the food or their biowaste evaporates, cools, condenses in the form of droplets on the internal surface of the lid (8) and then flows through the syringe (14) to the lower water recovery part (7). This separation cycle is repeated several times under the effect of thermal insolation until the recovery of the preferable volume of water, depleted in nutrients, as well as dry biomass with low moisture content (Figure 1). The device is designed to be easily disassembled and cleaned, thus ensuring high efficiency in the simultaneous recovery of biomass and water. This method offers a sustainable and economical solution for the recovery of biowaste, thus contributing to the ecological management of biowaste and the production of valuable resources.
