Abstract

The idea is to interconnect a set of cameras that are connected to processing systems with a storage space that serves as a local database for each camera. This set represents our smart camera in this patent. Our proposed method and platform relies on appropriate computer vision algorithms to perform the tasks of detecting, tracking and identifying moving objects. Subsequently, each detected object will be represented by a three-dimensional signature that uniquely identifies it. This signature is constructed by combining the visual aspects of the object taken from different viewing angles. In this way, each tracked object will be recognized by the other smart cameras and this from any angle from which it was detected. The different signatures, which are stored in the local database at each camera, are used to search for objects of interest or to constitute the complete trajectory traveled by an object in the monitored area.
