Invention relates to the field of electric power transmission lines and particularly to a method for detection of a distance to double-phase dead short site in 6 - 35 kV electric power distribution network. The method proposes to separate and to measure active and reactive components of voltage and current in damaged phase direct sequence line in emergency and pre-emergency conditions and take them into account in evaluation of inductive resistance of the short circuit which is proportional to the distance to the damaged site. This method allows to decrease an error caused by the fact that through the detector 1 placed at input of network flows both electric current from damaged line 5 and currents from intact lines 2 - 4 connected to the network.
