Abstract

The present invention relates to a scene switching adaptive bit allocation method for controlling the bit generation of a video encoder, and provides a bit allocation method for solving the image degradation caused by partial or full scene change in a digital video encoder. To this end, the bit allocation is adaptively adjusted using the number of intra mode macroblocks in the process of sequentially encoding each macroblock without using a separate scene change detection algorithm. When the bit allocation is performed as in the present invention, the image quality of the scene changeover is improved without a circuit for detecting a separate scene change, and the bit allocation is increased by the ratio of the area occupied by the number of intra mode macroblocks. In addition to the full-scale scene change, even if only a partial scene change has a corresponding quota, the image quality is improved.
