Abstract
본 발명은 와이드화면 영상신호의 선택적 부호화방법 및 그 장치에 관한 것이다. 본 발명은 16:9화면의 영상신호에서 매 프레임마다 4:3화면크기의 영역을 선택적으로 부호화한다. 이때, 선택되지 않은 영역이 이전과 이후의 프레임에서 선택되지 않는 영역과 중복되지 않도록 하며, 영상신호를 재생할 때 부호화되지 않은 영역의 영상신호는 이전 프레임의 동일 영역의 데이터로 대체한다. 이와 같은 본 발명은 4:3화면을 위한 트랙구조를 변경하지 않고도, 16:9화면의 영상신호를 기록할 수 있어 화면비가 다른 영상신호에 대해 호환성을 갖는 기록매체 및 DVCR을 제공하는 효과를 가져온다.The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for selectively encoding wide screen video signals.
