Abstract

The present invention relates to an automatic controller such as a traffic signal using a noise sensor. Automatic control of traffic lights requires the measurement of traffic volume. To this end, currently used methods include ambushing a sensing track on a road or installing an infrared detector over the road to measure the passage of a vehicle. However, these methods are very expensive parts and installation costs, and also has the problem of causing traffic jams during the installation work. In the present invention, by using the correlation between the traffic volume and the noise of the street, an automatic controller for estimating the traffic volume by measuring the noise with a noise detector that can be mounted on the traffic light easily and inexpensively and easily. In other words, when the noise is high (traffic time), the signal is lengthened to smoothly communicate with the vehicle, and when it is low (traffic time), the signal is shortened to reduce the time when the vehicle waits unnecessarily at the traffic light. This enables more efficient automatic control compared to the system such as regular interval signal. This control technique can be implemented in integrated circuits or microprocessors that can be easily adjusted to compensate for the uncertainty in noise estimation through various commercial designs.
