본 픽쳐 시작위치데이터 코딩방법 및 장치는 MPEG I 비트 스트림내의 확장영역 또는 유저영역에 현 픽쳐와 이전 픽쳐간의 상대적인 위치데이터를 사용하여 각 피쳐의 위치데이터를 코드화함으로써, 특수 재생모드 수행시 충돌없이 디코딩이 가능하게 하기 위한 것이다. 이에 따라 본 발명의 방법은 가변장부호화되어 인가되는 코드데이터가 확장영역의 시작 어드렛코드인 경우에 코딩하고 ; 동일한 GOP 층에서 현재 인가되는 픽쳐가 있는 경우 현재 인가되는 픽쳐의 타입을 결정하고 ; 현재 픽쳐시작위치와 이전 픽쳐의 시작위치간의 상대적인 위치를 검출하고 ; 현재 인가되는 픽쳐가 없는 경우, 데이터부분이 끝났음을 알리는 엔드코드를 할당하는 과정들로 이루어진다.This picture start position data coding method and apparatus encodes the position data of each feature using relative position data between the current picture and the previous picture in the extended area or the user area in the MPEG I bit stream, thereby decoding without collision when performing a special playback mode.
