본 영상복호화장치 및 방법은 가변장복호화시, 검출되는 양자화스텝사이즈의 크기에 따라 역이산여현변환된 계수를 적응적으로 후처리하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위하여 본 장치는 압축된 영상신호가 비트스트림의 형태로 인가되면 부호화시와 반대방향으로 가변장복호화하고 데이터중 부가정보로 인가되는 양자화스텝 사이즈(QS) 및 움직임 벡터(MV)를 검출하여 출력하기 위한 가변장복호화기에서 출력된 양자화스텝사이즈(QS)에 의하여 주파수영역의 이산여현변환계수로 역양자화하고 공간 영역의 정보로 역이산여현변환하며 가변장복호화기에서 출력되는 움직임벡터에 의하여 움직임을 보상하여 이산여현변환전의 영상신호로 복원하기 위한 전처리부;양자화스텝사이즈(QS)의 크기에 따라 별도의 후처리를 수행하기 위한 후처리부; 전처리부에서 출력되는 신호를 양자화스텝사이즈와 임계값과의 비교 결과에 의하여 후처리부에서 수행되는 별도처리를 선택적으로 수행할 수 있도록 통로를 제어하기 위한 통로제어수단을 포함하도록 구성된다.The apparatus and method for image decoding are to adaptively post-process the inverse discrete cosine transformed coefficients according to the magnitude of the detected quantization step size during variable length decoding.
