Abstract
Eicosapentaenoic acid is a polyunsaturated fatty acid of ω-3 series having 20 carbon atoms and a double bond to carbon number 5.8.11.14.17. It is known to be effective in the prevention and treatment of diseases. EPA having such an effect is produced by extracting from blue sea fish such as mackerel and sardines, but there are problems in the quality deterioration and supply of certain raw materials due to the fishy smell remaining in the extract.
In order to solve this problem, Motiella and Chlorella have been separated from the fungus, algae and Chlorella by examining EPA production. It is not industrialized.
Therefore, the present inventors attempted to isolate EPA-producing bacteria from fish bacteria for the production of EPA, and identified the isolated strain as Pseudomonas sp. By using the strain of the present invention, it is thought that EPA can be produced by a fast growth rate and a simple culture method, thereby reducing the production cost and enabling mass production at a low price.
