포름알데하이드를 원료물질로 하여 메틸글리콜레이트를 제조하는 공정에 있어서, 원료물질인 포름알데하이드와 일산화탄소를 원료 혼합기 (1)에서 혼합하고 글리콜산 반응기(2)를 통해 포름알데하이드를 다량 포함하는 글리콜산을 생성시키는 단계 ; 상기 글리콜산을 메탄올이 첨가되는 에스테르화 반응기(3)에서 메틸글리콜레이트로 에스테르화하고, 미반응된 포름알데하이드를 메탄올을 과량 첨가하여 메틸알로 제조하는 단계 ; 상기 에스테르화 반응기 (3)를 통하여 생성되는 메틸글리콜레이트와 메틸알의 혼합물을 증류탑(4)을 통하여 각기 분리한 후 상기 메틸글리콜레이트는 라인(8)을 통해 에틸렌글리콜을 합성하기 위한 수소화 반응기(9)로 투입하고, 상기 메틸알은 라인(5)를 통해 포름알데하이드 제조 반응기(6)로 투입하는 단계 ; 와 상기 포름알데하이드 제조반응기 (6)에 투입된 메틸알은 통상의 철-몰리브덴 촉매계를 사용하여 고농도 포름알데하이드를 생성시키고 농축기(7)에서 수분을 제거시킨 후 윈료 혼합기(1)로 재순환 시키는 단계로 구성됨을 특징으로 하는 메틸글리콜레이트의 제조공정.In the process of preparing methyl glycolate using formaldehyde as a raw material, glycolic acid containing a large amount of formaldehyde is mixed through a glycolic acid reactor (2) by mixing formaldehyde and carbon monoxide as raw materials in a raw material mixer (1).
