Abstract

This invetion is related to a supporting device for a magnetic head carriage in a floppy disk drive. A small spring mechanism restricts the force applied to the head. Inertia force of the head is restricted by those of the head and the supporting device. This supporting device (10) includes a carriage body (12) operated by lead screws or bands. The body (12) has a bottom head supporting arm (16) which forms a cavity (17), and a top head supporting arm (18) which forms another cavity (19). The top arm is connected to the body by a spring hinge (20), a supporting member (22) and screws (23).
