A carbon rod assembly for arc gouging and blasting metals consists of a first C piece (3) of circular columnar shape, with a socket hole of frusto-conical shape (6). External screw threads of a few threads are formed on the foot portion (8) of the projection (5) and internal screw threads (7) are formed at the open end (9) of the socket hole (6) to mesh with the external threads. A metallic coating (10) continuously covers the outer periphery of the C rod piece (3) and the non-threaded part of the foot portion and the open end portion.
