Abstract

The typewriter uses a liquid crystal display strip (23) which is scrolled in syncronism with the sweep of a copy machine used with the typewriter, to produce a printed copy. The device has a multiplex decoder and driver circuits having its input coupled to the screen and its output is coupled to the memory. The memory is a random access memory(RAM) & a microprocessor(31). It stores coded character information for generating displayed characters on the crystal display and scrolls the characters on the strip synchronously in the same direction & at the same speed of the photocopy machine. The device does not have any moving parts or any noise since it is entirely electronic in its character generation.
