Description
The present invention relates to metal oxide nanoparticles and quantum dot light-emitting devices containing the same. More specifically, the present invention relates to metal oxide nanoparticles that not only have excellent dispersion stability in solvents, but can also improve charge mobility of quantum dot light-emitting devices and reduce non-luminescent recombination. It relates to oxide nanoparticles and quantum dot light-emitting devices containing the same.
Quantum dot light-emitting diode (QLED) is attracting attention as one of the next-generation display technologies as it can achieve high color reproduction rate, high color purity, and high contrast ratio.
QLED generally has a hole injection layer (HIL), a hole transport layer (HTL), and a hole injection layer (HIL) between the anode and the cathode to facilitate electron and hole injection into the quantum dot emitting layer (EML). It has a multi-layer structure including common layers such as an electron injection layer (EIL) and an electron transport layer (ETL). The performance of QLED is greatly affected by the efficient recombination of exciton, an electron-hole pair formed by electrons and holes injected into the quantum dot light-emitting layer. When a relatively excessive amount of electrons or holes are injected into the quantum dot light-emitting layer and the charge balance becomes imbalanced, the energy that comes out as light is transferred to the extra charge through radiative recombination of excitons, a nonradiative process. Auger recombination occurs.
Therefore, as balanced charge injection into the quantum dot emitting layer is important for device performance, the performance of QLED requires not only continuous improvement in the quality of quantum dots but also development of common layer technology.
Initially, QLED mainly used organic materials as a common layer, like existing organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), but recently, inorganic materials such as metal oxide nanoparticles have been proposed.
For example, Republic of Korea Patent No. 10-2181060 discloses metal oxide nanoparticles on which a metal ion surface treatment layer is formed on the surface to control electron mobility.
However, the metal oxide nanoparticles previously used in the common layer have poor dispersion stability in solvents, so when forming the common layer through inkjet printing, aggregation of the metal oxide nanoparticles occurs, reducing the charge mobility of the quantum dot light-emitting device and causing non-luminescence. There was a problem of recombination, that is, increasing defect concentration.
Therefore, there is a need for the development of metal oxide nanoparticles for common layers that not only have excellent dispersion stability in solvents, but can also improve charge mobility of quantum dot light-emitting devices and reduce non-luminescent recombination.

(3) Non-luminescent recombination amount (defect concentration)
The amount of non-luminescent recombination (defect concentration) of the ligand-substituted metal oxide nanoparticles prepared in the above Preparation Examples and Comparative Preparation Examples was measured using a fluorophotometer (FL) equipped with a Xenon Arc lamp source (150 W). ) was analyzed using. The defect concentration was analyzed by measuring the luminescence intensity (PL intensity) at a wavelength of 530 nm emitted from the electronic state of the defect.
(4) Charge mobility
To analyze charge mobility, a conductor/metal oxide nanoparticle/metal (MSM) sandwich structure was created by considering the work function of the metal and the location of the metal oxide energy level. Specifically, the composition for forming a common layer prepared in the above Examples and Comparative Examples was spin-coated on ITO patterned glass, dried and baked, and Ag was then thermally vacuum deposited on the MSM device to manufacture it. The current-voltage characteristics (SCLC) of the MSM device fabricated in this way were analyzed. Generally, the current increases in proportion to the voltage, and when it reaches a certain voltage (V T ), the current becomes proportional to the square of the voltage. The lower the V T value, the higher the mobility. Using this, the charge mobility was calculated from the measured voltage and current values.
