Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for a head-up display for a vehicle, and more particularly, to realize augmented reality in which two image generating units superimpose a 3D virtual image on a real image or a background through an optical system and display it as a single image. It relates to a head-up display device and method for a vehicle that can be used.
In general, while driving a vehicle, a driver drives while checking vehicle information such as driving speed, engine rotational speed, and fuel amount displayed on a front instrument panel. Since the front instrument panel is located in front of the driver's seat of the instrument panel and the driver has to look down to check vehicle information, the risk of accidents is high because the driver cannot continuously look ahead.
In order to solve this problem, recently, a head-up display (hereinafter referred to as HUD) device that visualizes vehicle information is installed on the windshield glass of the vehicle. The head-up display projects various information of the vehicle in operation It consists of a projector that reflects the projected image, a reflector that reflects the projected image, and a projector that projects the reflected image onto the windshield glass. Since the image projected on the windshield glass is displayed in front of the vehicle through the driver's vision, the driver can observe the image together with the forward view while driving.
However, since the conventional head-up display provides only a virtual image on the windshield glass, there is a problem in that it cannot provide information on a real image recognized in the driver's field of view while driving. Therefore, there is a need to improve this.
