Description

Filter for water purifier using chitosan fiber}Filter for water purifier using chitosan fiber

The present invention relates to a filter for a water purifier using chitosan fiber. In more detail, it relates to a technology using chitosan fiber as a filter for a water purifier.

Gravity-type water purifiers have the advantages of low price, easy filter replacement, no electricity, no installation required, and small volume. It is a water purifier that is preferred by many residents.

However, the contact time is important because the conventional gravity-type water purifier adsorbs pollutants by electrostatic attraction by ion exchange. Therefore, the faster the flow rate, the lower the pollutant removal performance, and there was a problem in that it was difficult to simultaneously satisfy the fast water purification speed and the high heavy metal removal rate.

In other words, in the case of a filter with a high water purification speed, it is difficult to remove foreign substances such as heavy metals. Conversely, if the heavy metal removal rate is increased, there is a problem in that the water purification speed is slowed down. Accordingly, there has been a demand in the market for a filter capable of simultaneously implementing a fast water purification speed and a high heavy metal removal rate.

As a background art of the present invention, Utility Model Publication No. 20-0430713 (Announced date: November 13, 2006) The water filter containing chitosan contains a chitosan component in the water purifier filter, and various components extracted from chitosan are mixed with water. It facilitates the metabolic activity of the human body when eating and drinking, and by drinking purified water, it absorbs chloride ions that cause blood pressure rise, suppresses absorption in the intestine, and discharges it out of the body, thereby inhibiting blood pressure increase and effective bacteria in the intestine. It has the effect of proliferating and activating cells, regulating blood sugar, improving liver function, and discharging heavy metals and pollutants from the body.

The present invention has been devised to solve the problems of the prior art, and an object of the present invention is to provide a water purification filter using chitosan fibers having an excellent heavy metal removal rate and improved water purification speed.

The present invention in order to solve the above problems, the filter for a non-powered gravity type water purifier using the chitosan fiber of the present invention includes an ion exchange resin layer, an activated carbon fiber layer and the ion exchange resin layer formed by including a high concentration of functional groups in a polymer matrix and In the water filter comprising an activated carbon layer positioned between the activated carbon fiber layers,

The activated carbon fiber layer is a chitosan fiber layer, characterized in that the surface is modified.

The chitosan fibers of the chitosan fiber layer are hollow fibers. The thickness of the activated carbon layer is 1 mm to 50 mm, the thickness of the ion exchange resin layer is 5 mm to 70 mm, and the thickness of the chitosan fiber layer is 1 mm to 10 mm.

According to the present invention, since chitosan fiber is used as a water filter, the water treatment speed is fast and the foreign material removal ability is superior.

1 is a cross-sectional view of a water filter using chitosan fibers according to an embodiment of the present invention. 1, the water filter 10 of the present invention has an ion exchange resin layer 11, an activated carbon layer 12, a chitosan fiber layer 13, a first non-woven fabric layer 14 and a second non-woven fabric layer ( 15) consists of

Activated carbon, such as activated carbon, activated carbon fiber, and other porous carbon materials, is widely used as an adsorbent in various fields such as food, medicine, and chemical industry. Activated carbon is divided into various types according to the type of raw material, and can be manufactured as an adsorbent having various internal surface areas according to the type of activation.

Activated Carbon Fiber (ACF) is manufactured by activating carbon fibers made from acrylic resins, organic materials such as pitch obtained from petroleum or coal into fibers and then undergoing a special heat treatment process. Compared to activated carbon, activated carbon fibers are mostly composed of micropores.

Activated carbon fiber has a relatively uniform pore size, so the molecular sieve effect is excellent, and the fiber diameter (6-10 μm) is small, so uniform adsorption properties can be obtained. In addition, since the internal pores are all directly connected to the external surface, the mass transfer rate is very fast, the tensile strength and elastic modulus are excellent, and physical properties such as thermal/electric conductivity and density are easy to control. In addition, it has excellent properties compared to activated carbon, such as excellent heat resistance, corrosion resistance, and interlayer toughness, and almost no thermal expansion and contraction at high temperatures. Activated carbon fiber according to an embodiment of the present invention is a chitosan fiber.

Chitin and chitosan are present in the shells of crustaceans such as shrimp and crabs, the exoskeletons of arthropods such as the carapace of beetles, organs of molluscs, and the cell walls of fungi such as molds, yeasts, and mushrooms. And in the living body, it exists in a combined form of carbohydrate and protein. Because chitin forms the outer shell of living things, in 1823 the French scientist Ogilzii named it chitin, which means envelope in Greek. Chitin is not broken down by human digestive enzymes, so it has properties similar to dietary fiber to some extent.

Figure 2 is a structural diagram of the chitosan fiber of the present invention. The filter for a non-powered gravity type water purifier according to an embodiment of the present invention is chitosan fiber. The chitosan fibers may be hollow fibers. Performance can be improved through chemical treatment of chitosan fibers.

If chitosan fiber is used, heavy metal removal, residual chlorine, and chemical substances can be removed at the same time, so there is no need to add other materials, which has the advantage of simplifying the filter manufacturing process. The thickness of the water filter 10 in the present invention is in the range of 10 mm to 100 mm.

When the thickness of the filter is less than 10 mm, the flow rate is too fast and passes through hardly contact with foreign substances such as heavy metals, so there is a problem that the removal rate is lowered. When the thickness of the filter is greater than 100 mm, the flow rate becomes too slow and the waiting time becomes long, which is a problem in usability.

If you look at this for each layer, the best embodiment is that the activated carbon layer 12 is 1 mm to 50 mm, the ion exchange resin layer 11 is 5 mm to 70 mm, and the chitosan fiber layer 13 is 1 mm to 10 mm. It is preferably in the mm range. The chitosan fiber layer 13 includes chitosan fibers manufactured by activating carbon fibers made by making organic materials such as pitch into fibers and then going through a special heat treatment process. Chitosan fibers are formed with countless micropores. Therefore, the adsorption capacity is large and the adsorption rate is very fast because the micropores are developed on the surface. In particular, it can effectively adsorb free residual chlorine, trihalomethanes, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as chloroform, and lead. It also has the ability to remove amine odor and remove methyl mercaptan.

In another embodiment of the present invention, chitosan fibers have very weak adsorption capacity for heavy metal ions such as cadmium, iron, and copper. When the surface is modified using chitosan fiber to remove these heavy metal ions, the adsorption amount and adsorption rate of cadmium, iron, and copper are improved. The filter for water purifier using chitosan fiber according to an embodiment of the present invention is excellent in the rate of heavy metal removal at the same time as the water passing speed is improved more than twice.

In addition, the water purification filter using the chitosan fiber of the present invention has a superior water purification effect compared to the conventional gravity filter.

Although preferred embodiments of the present invention have been described above, it should be construed that the scope of the present invention extends to a range substantially equivalent to the embodiments of the present invention, and within the technical spirit of the present invention, the technical field to which the present invention belongs Various modifications are possible by those of ordinary skill in the art.

Since the water-purifying filter using the chitosan fiber of the present invention has a superior water-purifying effect compared to the conventional gravity filter, it is a very useful invention in the filter industry for water purifiers.
