Abstract
Description
Graphene has been attracting attention in various fields such as semiconductors, transistors, solar cells, and transparent electrodes due to its high electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity, and the growth rate of the related market is also developing remarkably. It is expected to grow strongly.
Until now, the graphene layer formation technique required a laser irradiation or a separate transfer process during the graphene layer formation process. However, these methods are limited in that only a local growth of the graphene layer is possible, or a vacuum chamber is required in a high-temperature and ultra low-pressure process, which is a high cost and complicated process.

Referring to FIG. 7, a P-type silicon substrate is prepared. PMMA (Poly Methyl Methacrylate) was spin-coated on the silicon substrate to form a PMMA layer as a carbon source layer on the silicon substrate. Al was sputtered on the PMMA layer to form an Al catalyst layer. Cu was attached to the Al catalyst layer with a silver paste to form a Cu electrode.
Currents of 5A, 6A, 7A, 8A, 9A, 10A and 15A were applied to the Al catalyst layer using the Cu electrode for 10 minutes to measure the maximum temperature according to the current. As a result, as shown in Fig. 7 and Table 1, the maximum temperature according to each current was measured to be 417K, 619K, 649K, 700K, 721K, 739K, and 854K.

Further, it was confirmed that the PMMA layer was not formed as graphene under a condition of a temperature of 417K by applying a current of 5A to the Al catalyst layer. Therefore, it is confirmed that applying a current exceeding 5 A and heating the metal catalyst layer to a temperature higher than 417 K is an efficient method of manufacturing the graphene layer from the PMMA layer.

As a result of the measurement, it can be confirmed that the temperature of the interface between the PMMA layer and the Al catalyst layer and the temperature of the upper surface of the Al catalyst layer, to which the current is applied, are not substantially different from each other. In other words, it can be confirmed that the heat of the Al catalyst layer is effectively transferred to the PMMA layer.
