Description
The present invention relates to a portable terminal, and more particularly, to a portable terminal including keypads for efficiently inputting characters.
Recently, portable terminals such as smart phones, tablet PCs, personal digital assistants (PDAs), portable game machines, and point-of-sale (POS) terminals have been widely used. Such a portable terminal includes a touch screen in order to improve a user's operational convenience. The touch screen is a display panel equipped with a special input device for inputting its position when it is in contact with the hand. These portable terminals can input data through a touch or drag operation using a finger or a stylus pen on a virtual keypad displayed on a display panel.
Conventional keypads, particularly keypads for inputting consonants, often have non-related consonants arranged in one key.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is an object of the present invention to provide a portable terminal in which a user's Hangul input convenience is improved.
A portable terminal according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a character display area and a character input area for inputting characters in the character display area. The character input area includes nine keypads arranged in a 3X3 matrix. The nine keypads are divided into first to ninth keypads. The first keypad is disposed in a first row and a first column, and is used to input 'a' and 'k' among the Korean consonants in the character display area. The second keypad is disposed in a second row and one column, and is for inputting 'ㅁ', 'ㅂ', and 'ィ' among the Korean consonants in the character display area. The third keypad is disposed in a third row and one column, and is for inputting 'o' and 'heh' among Korean consonants in the character display area. The fourth keypad is disposed in the first row and the second column for inputting 'b', 'c', and 'ese' among the Korean consonants in the character display area. The fifth keypad is disposed in a second row and a second column for inputting 'g', 'g', and 'g' among the Korean consonants in the character display area. The sixth keypad is disposed in the third row and the second column for inputting 'd' among the Korean consonants in the character display area. The seventh keypad is disposed in the first row and third column, and is for inputting one of the three elements constituting the Korean vowel in the character display area. The eighth keypad is disposed in the second row and third column, and is for inputting '·', which is one of the three elements constituting the Korean vowel in the character display area. The ninth keypad is disposed in a third row and a third column for inputting '?', Which is one of the three elements constituting a Korean vowel in the character display area.
The portable terminal senses the first touch applied to the first keypad and displays the letter 'A' in the character display area. The portable terminal senses a second touch applied to the first keypad and displays the 'K' in the character display area.
The portable terminal senses the first touch applied to the second keypad and displays the first character in the character display area. The portable terminal senses a second touch applied to the second keypad and displays the letter 'F' in the character display area. The portable terminal senses a third touch applied to the second keypad and displays the 't' in the character display area.
The portable terminal senses the first touch applied to the third keypad and displays the letter 'o' in the character display area. The portable terminal senses a second touch applied to the third keypad and displays the 'H' in the character display area.
The portable terminal senses the first touch applied to the fourth keypad and displays the letter 'b' in the character display area. The portable terminal detects the second touch applied to the fourth keypad and displays the 'c' in the character display area. The portable terminal detects the third touch applied to the fourth keypad and displays the 'i' in the character display area.
The portable terminal senses the first touch applied to the fifth keypad and displays the 'g' in the character display area. The portable terminal senses a second touch applied to the fifth keypad, and displays the 'C' in the character display area. The portable terminal senses a third touch applied to the fifth keypad, and displays the 't' in the character display area.
The character input area may further include a tenth keypad for inputting a sound in the character display area. The portable terminal can display 't' of the Korean consonants in the character display area by sensing a touch applied to the tenth keypad and a touch applied to the first keypad. The portable terminal can display 't' of the Korean consonants in the character display area by sensing a touch applied to the tenth keypad and a touch applied to the second keypad. The portable terminal can display 't' of the Korean consonants in the character display area by sensing a touch applied to the tenth keypad and a touch applied to the fourth keypad. The portable terminal can display 't' of the Korean consonants in the character display area by sensing a touch applied to the tenth keypad and a touch applied to the fifth keypad. The portable terminal can display 'ㅉ' of the Korean consonants in the character display area by sensing a touch applied to the tenth keypad and two consecutive touches applied to the fifth keypad.
In one embodiment of the present invention, the portable terminal includes a character display area and a character input area for inputting characters in the character display area. The character input area includes a first area to a ninth area. The first area corresponds to the first row and the first column of the 3x3 matrix, and includes the base station and the key of the Korean consonants. The second area corresponds to the second row and the first column of the 3X3 matrix, and includes mute, eclipsed, and phonemes among Korean consonants. The third region corresponds to the third row and the first column of the 3X3 matrix, and includes the hapiness and the hiragana among the Korean consonants. The fourth area corresponds to the first row and the second column of the 3X3 matrix, and includes ni, decipher, and ti in the Korean consonants. The fifth area corresponds to the second row and the second column of the 3X3 matrix, and includes a chin, a chin, and a chin among the Hangul consonants. The sixth area corresponds to the third row and the second column of the 3X3 matrix, and includes the remainder of the Korean consonants. The seventh area corresponds to the first row and third column of the 3X3 matrix, and includes a center, a center, and a center of a Korean vowel. The eighth area corresponds to the second row and the third column of the 3X3 matrix, and includes a cloth among the cloths that make up the Hangul collection, the cloth, and the cloth. The ninth region corresponds to the third row and third column of the 3X3 matrix, and includes a (), a (), and (), which constitute a Hangul vowel.
According to the embodiment of the present invention, Hangul consonants can be inputted to the display area of the portable terminal according to the Hunminjeongun guiding principle. Accordingly, convenience in inputting Hangul in the portable terminal is improved.
