Generally, in the production of a hot-rolled steel sheet or a cold-rolled steel sheet, side trimming is performed in which both ends of the steel sheet are sheared by a correcting line in order to match the width dimension of the product.

In addition, if cutting failure occurs due to an abnormality of the scrap cutting apparatus, the side trimming becomes poor and affects the quality. If the scrap can not be cut, it may be scattered or cause scratches on the steel strip. Moreover, scrap that has not been cut off must be cut manually by the operator, leading to serious problems of exposure to safety accidents.
