Abstract
분산 환경에서 사용자 애플리케이션의 액세스 특성에 따른 적응형 캐시 관리 방법이 제공된다. 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 적응형 캐시 관리 방법은, 사용자 애플리케이션의 액세스 패턴을 파악하여, 액세스 패턴을 기반으로 캐시 쓰기 정책을 결정한다. 이에 의해, 분산 환경에서 구축된 자원의 효율적인 사용 및 적응적 가변 정책에 따라 애플리케이션에서 발생될 수 있는 속도 지연을 발생을 최소화 할 수 있게 된다.
Description
본 발명은 캐시 관리 방법에 관한 것으로, 더욱 상세하게는 분산 환경에서의 적응형 캐시 관리 방법에 관한 것이다.
SSD를 활용한 기존의 캐시 디바이스 구조는, 하드디스크의 R/W 속도 보완 및 가격 경쟁력을 확보하고자 SSD 디바이스를 캐시 메모리와 같이 동작하도록 설계되어 있다.
하지만, 최종적으로 모든 데이터가 하드디스크를 통해 액세스되기 때문에 하드 디스크 속도에 영향을 받는 단점이 있다.
또한, 분산 환경에서 발생할 수 있는 다양한 사용자 데이터 요청 처리의 증가로 캐시의 포화가 발생하면 필요한 데이터에 액세스하기 위한 캐시 동작은 오히려 입출력 처리의 지연을 유발한다.
이에 따라, 불필요한 데이터로 발생되는 캐시 포화에 따른 입출력 지연을 늦추고 필요한 데이터를 이용해 응용 애플리케이션에 적합한 입출력 속도를 제공하기 위한 방안의 모색이 요청된다.
본 발명은 상기와 같은 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 안출된 것으로서, 본 발명의 목적은, 분산 환경에서 다양한 사용자 애플리케이션에 빠른 구동 속도를 제공하기 위해 적용된 캐시 디바이스에 적합한 캐시 쓰기 정책과 구동에 필요한 데이터 블록의 Hit Ratio를 높임으로써 보다 효율적인 캐시 디바이스의 사용과 사용자 애플리케이션의 구동 효율을 높이기 위한 캐시 적응형 캐시 관리 방법 및 시스템을 제공함에 있다.
상기 목적을 달성하기 위한 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른, 적응형 캐시 관리 방법은, 사용자 애플리케이션의 액세스 패턴을 파악하는 단계; 및 액세스 패턴을 기반으로, 캐시 쓰기 정책을 결정하는 단계;를 포함한다.
그리고, 상기 결정 단계는, 최근 참조된 데이터가 다시 참조되는 액세스 패턴인 경우, 캐시에 기록된 데이터를 향후 저장매체에 저장하는 캐시 쓰기 정책을 결정할 수 있다.
또한, 상기 결정 단계는, 참조된 데이터가 일정 간격 이후 다시 참조되는 액세스 패턴인 경우, 캐시에 기록된 데이터를 저장매체에 바로 저장하는 캐시 쓰기 정책을 결정할 수 있다.
그리고, 상기 결정 단계는, 참조된 데이터가 다시 참조되지 않는 액세스 패턴인 경우, 캐시에 데이터를 기록하지 않고 저장매체에 바로 저장하는 캐시 쓰기 정책을 결정할 수 있다.
또한, 액세스 패턴을 기반으로, 참조 가능성이 가장 높은 데이터를 선별하는 단계; 및 선별된 데이터를 캐시에 로드하는 단계;를 더 포함할 수 있다.
한편, 본 발명의 다른 실시예에 따른, 스토리지 서버는, 캐시; 및 사용자 애플리케이션의 액세스 패턴을 파악하고, 액세스 패턴을 기반으로 캐시 쓰기 정책을 결정하는 프로세서;를 포함한다.
이상 설명한 바와 같이, 본 발명의 실시예들에 따르면, 분산 환경에서 사용자 애플리케이션의 구동에 있어서, 평균 가용 리소스의 사용율를 최대로 높일 수 있게 된다.
또한, 분산 환경에서 구축된 자원의 효율적인 사용 및 적응적 가변 정책에 따라 애플리케이션에서 발생될 수 있는 속도 지연을 발생을 최소화 할 수 있게 된다.

이하에서는 도면을 참조하여 본 발명을 보다 상세하게 설명한다.
본 발명의 실시예에서는, 분산 환경에서 사용자 애플리케이션의 액세스 특성에 따른 적응형 캐시 관리 방법을 제시한다. 분산 환경에서 다양한 사용자 애플리케이션에 빠른 구동 속도를 제공하기 위함이다.
이를 위해, 본 발명의 실시예서는, 분산 환경에서 다양한 사용자 애플리케이션의 액세스 요청 특성에 따라 애플리케이션의 동작 효율을 높일 수 있도록, 가변적으로 최적의 캐시 쓰기 정책을 결정/변경한다.
또한, 캐시 디바이스의 가용 리소스를 보다 효율적이고 능동적으로 사용할 수 있도록 액세스 특성에 따라 필요한 블록을 사전에 적재하여, 데이터 블록의 Hit Ratio를 높인다.
이하에서, 사용자 애플리케이션의 액세스 특성에 따른, 적응적 캐시 쓰기 정책 결정 기법과 데이터 블록 사전 적재 기법에 대해, 보다 상세하게 설명한다.
도 1은 사용자 애플리케이션의 액세스 특성에 기반한 적응적 캐시 쓰기 정책 결정 방법의 설명에 제공되는 도면이다.
도 1에 도시된 바와 같이, 먼저 사용자 애플리케이션의 액세스 패턴을 수집한다(S110).
도 1에서, 사용자 애플리케이션-A(10-1)은 빅데이터 분석을 수행하는 애플리케이션이고, 사용자 애플리케이션-B(10-2)는 데이터 베이스 관리를 수행하는 애플리케이션이며, 사용자 애플리케이션-C(10-3)은 데이터를 복사하는 애플리케이션인 것을 상정하였다.
다음, S110단계에서의 수집 결과를 분석하여, 사용자 애플리케이션의 액세스 패턴을 파악한다(S120).
이에, S120단계에서, 빅데이터를 분석하는 사용자 애플리케이션-A(10-1)의 액세스 패턴은 최근 참조된 데이터 블록이 다시 참조되는 액세스 패턴(Write & Delayed Read)으로 파악되고, 데이터 베이스를 관리하는 사용자 애플리케이션-B(10-2)는 참조된 데이터 블록이 일정 간격 이후 다시 참조되는 액세스 패턴(Write & Immediate Read)으로 파악되며, 데이터를 복사하는 사용자 애플리케이션-C(10-3)은 참조된 데이터 블록이 다시 참조되지 않는 액세스 패턴(Sequential Write)으로 파악된다.
다음, 파악된 액세스 패턴을 기반으로, 사용자 애플리케이션에 대한 캐시 쓰기 정책을 결정한다(S130).
S130단계에서, 액세스 패턴이 "Write & Delayed Read" 인 빅데이터를 분석하는 사용자 애플리케이션-A(10-1)에 대해서는, 캐시에 기록된 데이터를 향후 저장매체에 저장하는 캐시 쓰기 정책(Wire-Back)을 결정한다.
또한, 액세스 패턴이 "Write & Immediate Read" 인 데이터 베이스를 관리하는 사용자 애플리케이션-B(10-2)에 대해서는, 캐시에 기록된 데이터를 저장매체에 바로 저장하는 캐시 쓰기 정책(Write-Through)을 결정한다.
아울러, 액세스 패턴이 "Sequential Write" 인 데이터를 복사하는 사용자 애플리케이션-C(10-3)에 대해서는, 캐시에 데이터를 기록하지 않고 저장매체에 바로 저장하는 캐시 쓰기 정책(Write-Around)을 결정한다.
도 2는 사용자 애플리케이션의 액세스 특성에 기반한 적응적 캐시 관리 방법의 설명에 제공되는 흐름도이다.
도 2에 도시된 바와 같이, 사용자 애플리케이션이 캐시/HDD에 액세스하면(S210-Y), 액세스한 사용자 애플리케이션이 액세스 패턴이 분석된 사용자 애플리케이션인지 확인한다(S220).
사용자 애플리케이션에는, 빅데이터 분석을 수행하는 애플리케이션, 데이터 베이스 관리를 수행하는 애플리케이션, 데이터를 복사하는 애플리케이션, 그 밖의 다른 기능을 수행하기 위한 애플리케이션이 존재한다.
S220단계에서, 액세스 패턴이 분석되지 않은 사용자 애플리케이션으로 확인된 경우(S220-N), 분석을 통해 사용자 애플리케이션의 액세스 패턴을 파악한다(S230,S240).
예를 들어, 빅데이터를 분석하는 사용자 애플리케이션의 액세스 패턴은 "Write & Delayed Read" 패턴으로 파악되고, 데이터 베이스를 관리하는 사용자 애플리케이션은 "Write & Immediate Read" 패턴으로 파악되며, 데이터를 복사하는 사용자 애플리케이션은 "Sequential Write" 패턴으로 파악된다.
이후, S240단계에서 파악된 액세스 패턴을 기반으로, 사용자 애플리케이션에 대한 캐시 쓰기 정책을 결정한다(S250).
예를 들어, 액세스 패턴이 "Write & Delayed Read" 인 경우 캐시 쓰기 정책은 "Wire-Back" 으로 결정되고, 액세스 패턴이 "Write & Immediate Read" 인 경우 캐시 쓰기 정책은 "Write-Through" 로 결정되며, 액세스 패턴이 "Sequential Write" 인 경우 캐시 쓰기 정책은 "Write-Around" 로 결정된다.
한편, 액세스한 사용자 애플리케이션이 액세스 패턴이 분석된 사용자 애플리케이션인 경우(S220-Y), S230단계 및 S240단계는 생략되고, 바로 S250단계가 수행된다.
다음, 액세스 패턴을 기반으로, 참조 가능성이 가장 높은 데이터 블록을 선별하고(S260), 선별된 데이터 블록을 캐시에 로드한다(S270).
도 3은 본 발명의 일 실시예에 따른 스토리지 서버의 블록도이다. 도 3에 도시된 바와 같이, 본 발명의 실시예에 따른 스토리지 서버는, I/O(310), 프로세서(320), 디스크 제어부(330), SSD 캐시(Solid State Disk Cache)(340) 및 HDD(Hard Disk Drive)(350)를 포함한다.
I/O(310)는 네트워크를 통해 클라이언트들과 연결되어, 사용자 애플리케이션들이 스토리지 서버에 액세스하는 인터페이스로 기능한다.
프로세서(320)는 I/O(310)를 통해 액세스한 사용자 애플리케이션의 액세스 패턴을 분석하여 파악하고, 파악된 액세스 패턴을 기반으로 사용자 애플리케이션에 대한 캐시 쓰기 정책을 결정한다.
또한, 프로세서(320)는 파악된 액세스 패턴을 기반으로 참조 가능성이 가장 높은 데이터 블록을 선별한다.
디스크 제어부(330)는 프로세서(320)에 의해 결정된 캐시 쓰기 정책에 따라 SSD 캐시(340)와 HDD(350)를 제어한다. 또한, 디스크 제어부(330)는 프로세서(320)에 의해 선별된 데이터 블록을 SSD 캐시(340)에 로드한다.
지금까지, 분산 환경에서 사용자 애플리케이션의 액세스 특성에 따른 적응형 캐시 관리 방법에 대해 바람직한 실시예들을 들어 상세히 설명하였다.
본 발명의 실시예에서는, 불 필요한 데이터로 발생되는 캐시 포화에 따른 입출력 지연을 늦추고 필요한 데이터를 이용해 응용 애플리케이션에 적합한 입출력 속도를 제공하고 효율적으로 동작시키는 구조를 제시하였다.
또한, 이상에서는 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예에 대하여 도시하고 설명하였지만, 본 발명은 상술한 특정의 실시예에 한정되지 아니하며, 청구범위에서 청구하는 본 발명의 요지를 벗어남이 없이 당해 발명이 속하는 기술분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진자에 의해 다양한 변형실시가 가능한 것은 물론이고, 이러한 변형실시들은 본 발명의 기술적 사상이나 전망으로부터 개별적으로 이해되어져서는 안될 것이다.
