Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a smart remote controller.
Standby power of existing set-top box is 15W, which is much bigger than 1W of conventional TV, and standby power consumption is the highest among home appliances. In addition, standby time is very long because set-top boxes use 3 to 4 hours a day on average rather than 24 hours a day.
Given that 18 million households are watching TV and domestic users of digital set-top boxes are more than 10 million, domestic power consumption can be reduced by 33 billion won / year even if the standby power consumption is reduced by 1W.
With the development of low-power set-top box, it is said that it has the effect of saving investment cost to secure power generation capacity of about 264 billion won when saving standby power of 8W (from current 10W to 2W). Therefore, although a lot of technologies related to low-power set-top boxes are being studied, it is realistic to apply the technology to various types of set-top boxes (cable, IPTV, satellite, etc.) There are many difficulties.
Also, it is not easy to secure other budgets because of the high replacement cost.
It is also difficult for broadcasting operators to use set-top replacement broadcasting. However, it is difficult for broadcasting service providers to use the technology.
The main reason for using a lot of power in standby time of a digital set-top box is that the set-top box takes a long time to boot.
To reduce the time it takes for the PC to turn off as soon as the remote control power button is pressed, virtually any other module that actually waits in the form of a video / audio output and a set-top Front LCD only turns on standby power-intensive. Active idle mode is referred to as active idle mode.
On the other hand, a standby mode (hereinafter referred to as a passive idle mode) in which a minimum module power such as a remote control signal standby is used has a long turn-on time of the set-top box.
Therefore, low-power set-top box technology has been studied in a lot of ways to reduce the inconvenience of use by reducing the set-up box start-up time by switching to active standby mode before the viewer is expected to watch TV while taking a lot of passive standby mode. In this case, the user's viewing pattern is utilized as basic data for usage prediction. And a big issue of this technology development is collecting what kind of viewing pattern the user shows.
The present invention applies low-power technology to a remote controller for controlling a set-top box.
The present invention applies low-power technology to a remote controller for controlling a set-top box.
According to an embodiment of the present invention, a low power technique can be applied to a remote controller for controlling a set-top box.

1 shows an operation of a smart remote controller according to an embodiment of the present invention.
Referring to FIG. 1, the viewing time information for turning on / off the settop on the set top remote controller is collected (S101).
The viewing time zone of the user for each day of the week is analyzed based on the viewing pattern accumulated in the set top remote controller in step S101 (S103).
The viewing channel information is collected based on the channel switching button (S105).
Compares the received EPG information with the EPG information received in the set-top box to derive a favorite program of the viewer (S107).
The remote control using the IoT technology is connected to the Internet to obtain EPG information and major update information of the set-top box (S109).
In step S111, the set-top box is controlled by the remote controller to switch the set-top box from the passive standby mode to the active standby mode in accordance with the program broadcasting scheduled time suitable for the viewer's taste by analyzing the information collected in steps S105, S107, .
The battery consumption of the remote controller may increase, so that the remote control type charging method or the wireless charging technique is applied (S113).
