Abstract
A server / storage management system and method using an improved redundancy technique are provided. The management system according to an embodiment of the present invention may include an active virtual machine for directly managing a plurality of devices, a passive virtual machine for managing a plurality of devices in place of the active virtual machine in case of a failure in the active virtual machine, And a spare virtual machine that assists the function of the passive virtual machine. This makes it possible to manage a large number of servers / storage efficiently by managing the server / storage according to various techniques with virtual machines having different roles.
Description
The present invention relates to a server / storage management system, and more particularly, to a system for managing a server / storage using a virtual machine.
Servers, communications equipment, and storage, storage, etc., require large amounts of power as a core infrastructure for storing and distributing big data. Particularly, as the cloud era and the big data era are coming, efficient management is required.
In this way, to provide cloud services and big data services, it has become necessary to manage more than a thousand servers / storages. To manage such a large number of servers / storage in a single control system, an intuitive control system is required to efficiently manage all servers / storage. In addition, a variety of information gathering systems have become necessary for intelligent / adaptive deployment. In addition, an integrated remote management system is required for server / storage systems.
In this way, in order to monitor and manage a lot of servers / storage devices through a single management system, it is required to search for ways to increase the efficiency of server management.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention has been made in order to solve the above problems, and it is an object of the present invention to provide a server / storage management system and method using an improved duplication technique in which a plurality of virtual machines are implemented as virtual machines performing different roles .
According to an aspect of the present invention, there is provided a management system comprising: an active virtual machine for directly managing a plurality of devices; A passive virtual machine for managing the plurality of devices in place of the active virtual machine when a failure occurs in the active virtual machine; And a spare virtual machine for assisting the functions of the active virtual machine and the passive virtual machine.
When the passive virtual machine is switched to the active mode due to a failure in the active virtual machine, the spare virtual machine can switch from the spare mode to the passive mode and function as a passive virtual machine.
In addition, when the spare virtual machine switches to the passive mode, another virtual machine can switch to the spare mode and function as a spare virtual machine.
The spare virtual machine may manage a plurality of devices by assisting the active virtual machine when the active virtual machine is loaded with a certain amount or more.
In addition, the spare virtual machine can manage a plurality of devices by assisting the passive virtual machine when the passive virtual machine is loaded with a certain amount or more.
According to another aspect of the present invention, there is provided a management method comprising: directly managing a plurality of devices by an active virtual machine; When a failure occurs in the active virtual machine, a passive virtual machine manages the plurality of devices on behalf of the active virtual machine; And a spare virtual machine assisting the functions of the active virtual machine and the passive virtual machine.
According to various embodiments of the present invention, servers / storage can be managed according to various techniques with virtual machines having different roles, and thus, many servers / storages can be efficiently managed. Further, since the management system can duplicate a plurality of virtual machines and distribute the load through the spare virtual machine, it becomes possible to have higher reliability and stability.
