Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an image display device and an operation method thereof, and more particularly, to an image display device and an operation method thereof that can improve user convenience.
The video display device is a device having a function of displaying an image that the user can view. The user can watch the broadcast through the image display device. The video display device displays a broadcast selected by a user on a display among broadcast signals transmitted from a broadcasting station. Currently, broadcasting is changing from analog broadcasting to digital broadcasting around the world.
Digital broadcasting refers to broadcasting in which digital video and audio signals are transmitted. Digital broadcasting is more resistant to external noise than analog broadcasting, so it has less data loss, is advantageous for error correction, has a higher resolution, and provides a clearer picture. Also, unlike analog broadcasting, digital broadcasting is capable of bidirectional service.
In addition, the image display device may receive and execute applications including various contents through a data service and display the same on a display. The type and amount of such applications have increased exponentially in recent years. However, there is a problem that it takes more time to identify the application including the content desired by the user according to the increased application. In addition, there is a need for an interface that enables users to easily understand and access various applications.
An object of the present invention is to provide an image display device and an operation method thereof that can improve user convenience.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an image display device capable of providing various user interfaces and an operation method thereof.
In addition, the present invention provides an image display device and an operation method thereof for easy access to an application.
According to an aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method of operating an image display device, the method including: accessing a server providing one or more applications; Receiving application information including a list of applications that the server can provide and preview information for each application from the server; Displaying icons corresponding to the respective applications based on the application information; Selecting one of the displayed icons; And displaying first preview information of a first application corresponding to the selected icon at a specific position within a predetermined distance from the selected icon.
In addition, the image display device according to an embodiment of the present invention for achieving the above object, the network interface unit for receiving the application information including the application list and preview information for each application from the server; And a controller configured to generate and display icons corresponding to the respective applications based on the received application information, wherein the controller is configured to display first preview information of a first application corresponding to a selected icon among the displayed icons. The display is displayed at a specific position within a predetermined distance from the selected icon.
According to an embodiment of the present invention, by displaying the preview information of the application, the user can easily grasp the information of the desired application.
In particular, since the preview information is displayed at a specific position within a predetermined distance from the selected application icon, the application information required by the user can be displayed more naturally.
In addition, the preview information is displayed according to the pointer position for application selection, so that the user can easily and conveniently grasp the preview information.
In addition, various user interfaces for an application may be provided in the image display device, thereby increasing user convenience.
