Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a water purifier and a method of operating the same, and more particularly, to a water purifier for disinfecting water in a tank by installing an ultraviolet sterilization unit in a tank and a method of operating the same.
In general, a water purifier is a device that removes impurities and filters them by physical and chemical methods.
Water purifiers can be classified into natural filtration, direct filtration, ion exchange resin, distillation, reverse osmosis, etc.
Water purifiers are classified according to their type, and are directly connected to a faucet to which water is supplied, and a storage type for storing purified water through a filter in a water tank or the like.
The water purifier may be equipped with an ultraviolet lamp in a tank in which water is contained, and ultraviolet rays irradiated from the ultraviolet lamp may sterilize the water in the tank.
The water purifier according to the prior art has a problem in that water which is not sufficiently sterilized at the initial stage of water intake may be withdrawn, and when the ultraviolet lamp is driven at a time when the ultraviolet lamp is unnecessary, the power consumption is increased.
The present invention has been made to solve the above problems of the prior art, and provides a water purifier and a method of operating the same that can be sufficiently sterilized water in the initial stage of the intake of water in the tank while minimizing the power consumption of the ultraviolet sterilization unit. There is a purpose.

When the water is inputted to the water input unit, the controller opens the water valve and drives the ultraviolet sterilization unit. The controller may drive the ultraviolet sterilization unit first when the water is input to the water extraction input unit, and open the water extraction valve after the standby set time elapses after driving the ultraviolet sterilization unit.
The water purifier may further include a sterilization reservation input unit capable of inputting a sterilization reservation, and a sterilization completion display unit displaying sterilization completion, wherein the controller sterilizes the ultraviolet sterilization unit when the sterilization reservation is input to the sterilization reservation input unit.
