Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a location information service, and more particularly to a location service based on Secure User Plane Location (SUPL).
In general, a mobile communication system includes a related function unit for calculating a location of a terminal in a mobile communication network, and provides a location service that delivers the location of the terminal to a certain entity periodically or on request. Doing.
The location service is the basis for providing various additional services to the user, for example, traffic information service, location information service, weather information service, vehicle navigation service, emergency relief service, and the like.
The method for calculating the current position of the terminal includes a cell-ID scheme for transmitting the ID of the cell to which the terminal belongs, and measuring a time at which radio waves arrive from each terminal to adjacent base stations, and then using triangulation. There is a method for calculating a position, a method using a global positioning system (GPS), and the like.
As described above, in order to calculate the location and provide the location information, many signals and the location information must be transmitted between the mobile terminal and the location server.
The implementation form and operation procedure of the system for providing the location service are different depending on the structure of the network, for example, whether 3GPP, 3GPP2, UTRAN, E-UTRAN, and its characteristics.
Meanwhile, the location service may be generally provided through a user plane for transmitting user data and a control plane for transmitting control data. As an example of the above technology, a location service may be provided through a user plane. There is a Secure User Plane Location (SUPL) that provides a service.
SUPL is basically a communication protocol based on a user plane that provides location services through a user plane. For example, SUPL uses user plane data bearers to deliver location assistance information, such as Assisted-Global Positioning System (A-GPS), and to carry positioning technology related protocols between mobile terminals and networks. Bearer).
Such a SUPL-based location service may be provided through a SUPL network including a SUPL agent, a SET (SUPL Enabled Terminal), which is a terminal capable of supporting SUPL service, and a SPL (SUPL Location Platform).
1 is a block diagram showing a schematic configuration of a SUPL network.
Referring to FIG. 1, a
First, the SUPL agent in the
예를 들어, 상기 SET(10)은 UMTS(Universal Mobile Telecommunication System)에서의 UE(User Equipment), GSM(Global System for Mobile communication)나 IS-95(Inter Standard-95)에서의 MS(Mobile Station), 또는 SET 기능이 내재된 랩탑 컴퓨터(Laptop Computer)나 PDA(Personal Digital Assistance) 등의 이동 통신 단말기가 될 수 있다.
상기 SLP(50)는 SUPL 서비스의 관리 및 목표 SET의 위치 결정을 담당하는 네트워크 개체로서, SLC(SUPL Location Center)(55)와 SPC(SUPL Positioning Center)(57)을 포함할 수 있다. The SLP 50 is a network entity responsible for managing SUPL services and determining a target SET. The SLP 50 may include a SULC Location Center (SLC) 55 and a SUPL Positioning Center (SPC) 57. In this case, the
The SET 10 may be connected to the SPC 57 via the SLC 55, or may be directly connected to the SPC 57 to communicate with the SET 10. The connection mode for connecting to the
Meanwhile, a network originally registered by the SET 10 is called a home network, and when the SET 10 moves and is located in an area other than the home network area, the network of the corresponding area is visited. Visited Network). In addition, the SLP in the home network is referred to as an H-SLP (Home-SLP), and the SLP in the visited network is referred to as a V-SLP (Visited-SLP).
On the other hand, in the location service based on the location of the mobile terminal, whether or not to promptly handle an emergency call in which the user urgently requests location information becomes an important factor in terms of the utility of the service. This is because, when the user is urgently requested for the current location due to distress or traffic accident, the user needs to quickly identify the location through an emergency call. However, when the emergency call is insufficiently processed, the utility of the service may be greatly reduced.
In the above-described location service of the prior art, a method of calculating the location of the SET includes a cell-ID method of delivering a cell ID of a base station to which the SET belongs, and a time when radio waves arrive from the SET to adjacent base stations. There are a method of calculating the position of the SET using a post-triangulation, a method using a Global Positioning System (GPS).
However, the positioning method based on the cell ID has an advantage of not requiring the change of the terminal or the addition of hardware. However, there is a disadvantage that a positioning error may occur up to several km depending on the placement and location of the base station. In addition, the positioning method using the GPS has a high accuracy of the positioning error of several m to several tens of meters, but there is a disadvantage that requires additional hardware for GPS signal reception and processing. Moreover, since there are few terminals equipped with the GPS, it is difficult to provide location services to a large number of users.
In particular, in the case of an emergency call, since a terminal having no GPS is large in position error, it may not be able to exert a great effect in an emergency situation.
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to solve the above problems.
Specifically, the present invention, even if the terminal is not equipped with GPS hardware, or even if equipped with the current situation that the terminal can not perform the precise positioning through the GPS, when the SLP receives a location service request for the terminal It aims to solve this problem properly.
In order to achieve the above object, in the present application, even if the terminal does not have GPS hardware or even if the terminal does not currently perform precise positioning through the GPS, the SLP provides a location service for the terminal. When the request is received, the present invention proposes a method of acquiring and delivering a location of another terminal around the terminal.
For example, if the device does not support precise positioning (e.g., does not support precise positioning due to a problem with the hardware such as the GPS of the terminal), or if the precision positioning cannot be performed (use of other applications, etc.). In this case, it is difficult to use precision positioning, or cannot perform the precision positioning method required by the SLP.), And a method of acquiring and transmitting a position of another terminal located around the terminal is proposed.
Specifically, in order to achieve the above object, a location server provides a method for providing location information of a terminal. Here, the specific message may include information on the second terminal to be measured the location. The method for providing location information may include: transmitting, by the location server, a session start message including at least the session ID to the second terminal; Receiving, by the location server, a location measurement initiation message including the session ID and the location ID of the second terminal; Comparing the location value obtained through the location ID of the first terminal with the location value obtained through the location ID of the second terminal; If it is determined by the comparison that the two location values are correlated with each other, the location server performing location measurement on the second terminal; The location server may further comprise the step of transmitting to the first terminal an end message including the result of the location measurement performed.
The information on the second terminal may include an ID of another terminal whose position is to be measured on behalf of the first terminal.
The location server may be the H-SLP of the first terminal. In this case, before receiving the specific message, the location server may further include transmitting a session initiation message including at least a session ID to the first terminal. The session initiation message transmitted to the first terminal may further include an alternative measurement permission parameter indicating whether position measurement by another terminal is also allowed, or another SET position permission parameter.
The method for providing location information may further include checking whether the session ID in the received specific message is the same as the session ID in the session initiation message transmitted to the first terminal. In this case, the step of transmitting the session start message to the second terminal may be performed when the two session IDs are the same.
The specific message is received from the first terminal, and the specific message may correspond to any one of a session initiation message, a service initiation message, and a SUPL INIT message.
The session initiation message may correspond to a service initiation message or a SUPL INIT message, and the location measurement initiation message may correspond to a SUPL POS INIT message.
The correlation between the two position values may be determined by whether the two position values are equal to each other or the two position values are within a preset allowable range.
