Abstract

PURPOSE: An apparatus for storing data and an operating method implementing the same are provided to strengthen security by ciphering image and sound data. CONSTITUTION: A storage unit(160) stores data, and an encryption unit(170) ciphers the stored data. A decryption unit(180) deciphers the encrypted data. A control unit(150) collects data including video data and audio data. If necessary, the control unit ciphers the collected data through the encryption unit. The control unit stores the encrypted data to the storage unit. The controller controls the output of the decrypted data.

Description

Apparatus for storing data and operating method implementing the same}

The present invention relates to a data storage device, and more particularly, to a data storage device capable of recording and storing video and audio data.

A data storage device using location-based data including a vehicle black box currently being promoted in Korea is mainly implemented as a small device, and all recorded data are stored in the terminal itself. For example, the vehicle black box stores images of the front and rear of the vehicle and the driving information data, and visually reproduces the state at the time of the traffic accident along with the stored driving information, thereby enabling the objective analysis of the traffic accident situation.

Referring to FIG. 1, the data storage device 10 may collect data from the outside and store the data, and if necessary, may be connected to the external playback device 70 to reproduce the stored data. In more detail, the data storage device 10 receives image data from the photographing unit 20 such as a camera, and the received image data is converted into an internal signal through a first analog-to-digital converter (ADC) to control the controller. It is input to (15). The data received from the GPS receiver 40 is converted into an internal signal through the coordinate converter 13 and input to the controller 15. The voice data received from the microphone 50 is converted into an internal signal through the second ADC 12 and input to the controller 15. As such, in the related art, data including audio and video data is stored in the data storage device 10 as it is, and anyone can easily reproduce the data through a general playback device 70 such as a computer or a cassette. Therefore, there is a concern that the data stored in the data storage device 10 may be exploited for invasion of personal privacy and various crimes.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention has been made to solve the above problems, and an object thereof is to provide a data storage device and a driving method thereof which can prevent privacy infringement and crime occurrence by encrypting and storing data.

The data storage device of the present invention for achieving the above object includes a storage means for storing data, an encryption unit for encrypting data, a decryption unit for decrypting the encrypted data and data including video data and audio data. And collecting and processing the data, if necessary, encrypting the collected data through the encryption unit, storing the collected data in the storage unit, and controlling the decrypted data to be output by decrypting the encrypted data.

The controller may collect image data from a photographing unit for photographing a subject. In this case, the controller may collect image data from a charge-coupled device (CCD) device. The data storage device may further include a first analog-to-digital converter for converting analog data received from the CCD element into digital data.

Alternatively, the controller may collect image data from a complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) device.

The controller may collect voice data from the microphone. In this case, the method may further include a second analog-to-digital converter for converting analog data received from the microphone into digital data.

The controller may collect position data from a global positioning system (GPS) receiver. In this case, the apparatus may further include a coordinate converter for converting the position data received from the GPS receiver into a data format usable by the controller.

The control unit may collect data from the gyro sensor unit. The data converter may further include a data converter for converting data received from the gyro sensor into a data format usable by the controller.

The apparatus may further include a user input unit configured to receive a password and related information from a user for protecting personal privacy and setting up a controller.

The control unit may further include a password algorithm for encrypting data by receiving a password from the user input unit. In this case, the controller provides a screen for inputting a password when the data encrypted with the password algorithm is to be reproduced, and checks whether the password input from the provided screen matches the password set for the data encrypted with the password algorithm. Thus, if there is a match, the data encrypted by the password algorithm can be decrypted.

The controller may encrypt data in the encryption unit according to a user's selection, and encrypt data using the password algorithm.

In one embodiment of the present invention, the data storage device may be a vehicle black box.

The method of operating a data storage device according to an embodiment of the present invention includes the steps of checking whether encryption is set to encrypt and store data collected from the outside, and if the encryption is set, encrypting and storing the collected data.
