Abstract

PURPOSE: A home automation system based digital TV using a zigbee wireless communication network is provided to conveniently perform home automation setting and the operation of a digital TV by activating a zigbee mobile console. CONSTITUTION: A zigbee communication module(14) is installed inside digital TV(10,11,12), and a communication unit communicates with sensor nodes(30,31). A control unit processes an event, and an output unit outputs the control signal to the digital TVs in cased the control signal is an existing broadcasting control signal. The output unit outputs an indoor event to a recording medium and a PIP(Picture In Picture) screen. A message transmission unit transmits an event to a mobile terminal, and a zigbee mobile console(20) is activated through a touch screen(21).

Zigbee wireless communication technology is low power and attracts the most attention in USN (Ubiquitous Sensor Network) based home network and various sensor systems. Digital TV broadcasting will be carried out in Korea from 2012. Since the Zigbee wireless communication module is already installed when purchasing a digital TV, there is no need to install a separate device, and the Zigbee Mobile Console, which is provided as a remote control, can easily operate digital TV and set up home automation using a touch screen. By recording and storing all the events occurring in the house on the recording media embedded in the digital TV, it is possible to check all the events occurring when the house is emptied later by checking them again at any time.

Zigbee wireless communication module is installed in the digital TV which is the automation base of home.

The mounted Zigbee wireless communication module is preferably mounted as a component in a digital TV chip or mounted inside the digital TV as a Zigbee wireless communication module or connected outside the digital TV.
