Description
The present invention relates to an image display device, and more particularly, to an apparatus and method for displaying image information in an image display device.
With the spread and popularization of digital TVs, users can record and easily play broadcast programs without an external device. In particular, the PVR (Personal video recorder) stores the TV broadcast signal as a digital signal on a hard disk or other storage media, providing an environment that can be replayed at any time as well as in real time.
Unlike conventional analog recorders, the PVR stores TV broadcast signals as digital signals, thereby making it possible to easily play back unwanted scenes, and some PVRs provide a program editing function for deleting unwanted scenes.
When outputting a broadcast image previously stored or received from the outside, a user can easily watch an image of a desired position by displaying a progress bar indicating a playback state of a thumbnail or an image together.
However, since the movement and thumbnail of the pointer representing the video playback point in the progress bar are operated separately or the pointer is moved, it is not clear what the corresponding thumbnail is. Therefore, the user cannot change the playback point in the thumbnail or progress bar. There is a difficulty in clearly recognizing the distinction.
That is, as shown in FIG. 1, as the time of the playback time moved by the current user is displayed small between the progress bar and the thumbnail, it is difficult to recognize the movement of the thumbnail and the movement of the playback time.
An object of the present invention is to enable a user to easily watch an image of a desired playback time point in a video display device for solving the problems of the prior art as described above.

The image display device according to the present invention has an effect of easily confirming an image of a desired playback time with respect to a stored recording or an image received from the outside and easily recognizing information of the corresponding time.

In addition, extracting the thumbnail image in scene change units may suggest a more convenient editing method because a unit that a user wants to edit generally has more semantic scene change units of a program than a physical time unit.
The thumbnails extracted as described above may be displayed together with a progress bar that flexibly displays playback information at a predetermined position of the screen when the image is displayed, according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention.
