BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to an apparatus for automatically adjusting the reception sensitivity of an antenna. In particular, the present invention relates to a strength of a digital broadcast signal received by being mounted in a digital broadcast signal receiver such as a vehicle digital multimedia broadcasting (DMB) receiver. The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for automatically adjusting an antenna reception sensitivity, which continuously measures antenna reception sensitivity so that the reception sensitivity of the antenna is maintained above a predetermined reference value so that a broadcast signal can be more stably received in any communication environment.
In general, a digital broadcasting receiver such as a vehicle DMB receiver is installed in a vertical direction on a vehicle when an external antenna is installed, because the broadcast station transmits the broadcast in 'vertical polarization' at the time of radio wave transmission.
However, when a vehicle passes through an urban area surrounded by buildings, radio waves spread through the air and are reflected on buildings or walls, causing so-called 'fading', refraction, and diffraction. Has a problem that the reception sensitivity of the antenna is lowered because it is converted to horizontal polarization.
On the other hand, when the reception sensitivity of the antenna as described above, in the prior art, the user must manually adjust the angle or length of the signal well while changing the direction of the antenna by manual operation, there was a problem inconvenient in use.
Therefore, if the angle or length of the antenna is automatically adjusted so that the antenna reception sensitivity is maintained at a constant level, it is expected that the convenience of use will be greatly increased.
Accordingly, the present invention continuously measures the antenna reception sensitivity based on the strength of the broadcast signal in a digital broadcast signal receiver such as a vehicle DMB receiver, and automatically adjusts the antenna angle or length so that the reception sensitivity of the antenna is maintained above a predetermined reference value. It is an object of the present invention to provide a device and method for automatically adjusting antenna reception sensitivity to more stably receive a broadcast signal in a communication environment.
The present invention for achieving the above object is an antenna reception sensitivity automatic adjustment device, an antenna driver for changing the angle or length of the antenna by driving the antenna up or down, and calculates the reception sensitivity according to the change in the angle or length of the antenna Continuously checking whether the antenna reception sensitivity falls below a predetermined reference value through the gain calculator and the gain calculator, and automatically controlling the antenna driver to change the angle or length of the antenna when the reception sensitivity falls below the reference value.
