The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for cell broadcast service in a wireless communication system. More particularly, in a wireless communication system conforming to the IEEE 802.16e standard, a base station transmits the same message to terminals located in a predetermined cell. A wireless communication system based on IEEE 802.16e may be a wireless broadband system (Wibro), which is a domestic mobile Internet system. By using Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (Multiple Access) and TDD (Time Division Duplexing) as a redundant method, high-speed data transmission is possible even when a user is moving in a wireless environment.
Meanwhile, a cell broadcast service (hereinafter, referred to as 'CBS') refers to a service in which a base station transmits the same data to terminals located in a certain area (see FIG. 1). However, there is no recommendation for cell broadcast service (CBS) in a wireless communication system conforming to the IEEE 802.16e standard. Therefore, in order to transmit a CBS message according to the current IEEE 802.16e standard, a connection must be created using a dynamic service flow for data transmission, and then transmitted to each terminal individually. do.
Referring to Figure 2, a brief description of the CBS message transmission method using the dynamic service flow as follows.
First, the base station transmits a DSA-REQ message including a transaction ID allocated by the base station to create a new service flow to the terminal (S110). Upon receiving the DSA-REQ message, the terminal transmits the DSA-RSP message to the base station in response thereto (S120). The DSA-RSP message includes a confirmation code corresponding to the transaction ID and the DSA-REQ. Then, the base station transmits the DSA-ACK message to the terminal in response to the DSA-RSP message (S130). If the service flow is successfully allowed, the base station transmits a CBS message to the terminal (S140). When the data transmission is completed, the base station transmits a DSD-REQ message to the terminal to delete the existing service flow (S150). Then, the terminal transmits the DSD-RSP message to the base station in response to the DSD-REQ message (S160), thereby ending the dynamic service flow.
However, the above-described method using the dynamic service flow is a connection-oriented data delivery scheme, which is suitable for robust data transmission, but the size of data to be transmitted is small or one, such as a CBS message. If the connection is lost after the packet data unit (PDU) transmission, radio resources are greatly wasted.
The present invention was devised to solve the above problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide a cell broadcast in a wireless communication system capable of efficiently transmitting CBS messages to multiple terminals in a cell while efficiently using radio resources. Another object of the present invention is to provide a cell broadcast service apparatus and method for transmitting a CBS message using a downlink channel descriptor (DDC) message among MAC management messages defined in IEEE 802.16d / e.
