BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a portable terminal capable of providing a digital broadcast service, and more particularly to a digital broadcast service method and apparatus for a portable terminal capable of providing the same broadcast regardless of a broadcaster.

Currently, the digital broadcasting method can be roughly divided into DMB (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) and DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting). In addition, the current digital broadcast receiver performs a function of receiving and displaying various digital broadcast signals. In this case, the digital broadcast signal is a digitally encoded and modulated signal, and the receiver must demodulate and decode it in reverse. Accordingly, the digital broadcast receiver should include a tuner, a broadcast data demodulator, a broadcast data decoder, and the like.

Such digital broadcasting may have a large number of broadcasting companies. In addition, each broadcaster digitally broadcasts a plurality of contents provided by content providers to users through an allocated frequency band. One content provider may simultaneously provide the same content to multiple broadcasters. In addition, each broadcaster has a service area that is a regional range that the broadcaster can service. Each service area may overlap some or all, and each service area may be completely independent of each other.

It is common for a user to receive and watch a digital broadcast within a service area of a broadcaster. However, when a user leaves a broadcasting service area and moves to another broadcasting service area, the user may not receive it even though another broadcasting company provides broadcasting of the same content.

Accordingly, the present invention in view of the problems of the prior art is to continuously provide the same broadcast as the broadcast watching even if the user's portable terminal is out of the service area of any one broadcaster.

For convenience of description, the service area of the first broadcaster is referred to as a first service area 10, and the service area of a second broadcaster is referred to as a second service area 20.

It is assumed that the mobile terminal 200 moves to the second service area 20 while receiving a specific broadcast (eg, news) in the first service area 10.

Then, the mobile terminal 200 may not receive a specific broadcast. In this case, in order to receive the received specific broadcast, the mobile terminal 200 accesses the common broadcast information server 100 through the mobile communication network 30.

The common broadcast information server 100 stores information of broadcasts serviced by each broadcaster. The wireless communication unit 210 is configured to include an RF module and a baseband module. Here, the RF module includes an RF (Radio Frequency) transmitter for up-converting and amplifying a frequency of a signal to be transmitted, and an RF receiver for low noise amplifying and down-converting a received signal. In addition, the baseband module converts the transmitted signal through channel coding and interleaving, modulates it, and provides the modulated signal to the RF module, and demodulates, equalizes, and receives the received signal provided from the RF module. The broadcast receiver 220 is for selectively receiving a broadcast signal of a frequency band allocated to a specific broadcaster received through an antenna. In particular, the broadcast receiving unit 220 according to an embodiment of the present invention may not receive a corresponding broadcast signal while receiving a broadcast signal of one operator. In this case, the broadcast receiver 220 scans another frequency under the control of the controller to receive a broadcast signal of another broadcaster. The broadcast signal processor 230 converts the broadcast signal to the baseband, selects a specific channel, and performs error correction, and then separately outputs the broadcast signal into a video / audio signal and a data signal. To this end, the broadcast signal processor 230 may include a module for converting the received broadcast signal into a baseband signal. The display unit 240 visually provides a video signal output from the controller 280 and the broadcast signal processor 230, a menu of the portable terminal, user data input by the user, function setting information, and various information to the user. The display unit 240 may be formed of a liquid crystal display (LCD). In this case, the display unit 240 may include a control device for controlling the liquid crystal display, a video memory capable of storing image data, an element of the liquid crystal display, and the like.
