Abstract

A swing/sliding combination-type portable terminal is provided to offer a convenient UI(User Interface) environment by adopting both a swing type and a sliding type. A swing/sliding combination-type portable terminal comprises the first housing(100), the second housing(200), and a swing-sliding modul. The first housing comprises the first user interfacing part(110). The first user interfacing part is arranged at the upper surface of the first housing. The second housing also has the second user interfacing part(210). Swinging at a certain angle while facing the first housing, the second housing opens or closes a certain region of the upper surface of the first housing. After being swung, the second housing opens or closes the certain region by making a sliding motion in the lengthened direction of the first housing while continuously facing the first housing. The swing-sliding unit connects the first housing with the second housing so that swing and sliding motions can be made between the two housings.

In particular, the present invention relates to a portable terminal that can be used as a swing type and a sliding type.

The portable terminal refers to an electronic device that the user can carry and wirelessly communicate with the counterpart. These portable terminals have been miniaturized, slimmed, gripped, and lightened in consideration of their portability, and have entertainment contents including multimedia directions, for example, games or entertainment, to pursue various service functions. In the future, mobile communication terminals are expected to change into a multifunctional complex trend that includes not only simple voice calls but also video calls, games, the Internet, and cameras.

Conventional portable terminals are classified into bar-type, folder-type, sliding-type, or swing-type terminals according to their appearance in consideration of portability and ease of use. Conventional folder-type portable terminals are disclosed in US Pat. No. 6,865,406.

Conventional swing-type portable terminals are disclosed in detail in US Application No. 10 / 822,380. In addition, Korean Patent Application No. 2005-16847 discloses a mobile communication terminal in which a slide and a swing operation are simultaneously implemented.

Of course, if the overall size of the portable terminal is equipped with a wide display unit and more keys are placed, the above-mentioned problems can be overcome.
