A search system for a network printer and a method thereof are provided to enable a user to search the network printer easily through a simple procedure for requesting search with a keyword and perform the search efficiently by enabling only the corresponding network printer to respond to a search request of a network printer server. A network printer server(200) is connected to a plurality of network printers(300A-300C) through the network. A client system(100) requests search to the network printer server. Each network printer includes a printing controller controlling entire operation of the network printer, a user interface for receiving a keyword assigned to each network printer, a printer interface for communicating with the network printer server, and a storing part for storing keyword information. The network printer server searches the network printer corresponding to the keyword received from the client system and each network printer responds to a search request corresponding to the keyword assigned to the network printer.
