The present invention relates to an image reading apparatus, and more particularly, to an image reading apparatus for scanning an image.

The image forming apparatus refers to a device for printing an input image signal on a printing medium. The image forming apparatus corresponds to a printer, a copying machine, or a multifunction device integrating these functions into one device. The multifunction apparatus includes a scanning unit (image reading apparatus) for reading an image recorded on an original, and a printing unit for printing an image on paper.

Korean Patent No. 555716 discloses an image forming apparatus having a scanning unit and a printing unit. The scanning unit includes a flat glass provided on the upper portion of the main body, an image sensor provided on the lower portion of the flat glass to read an image, and a cover rotated on the upper portion of the main body to press the scan target while protecting the flat glass. The cover is provided with an automatic document feeder (hereinafter referred to as an ADF) so that documents can be scanned continuously. The printing unit is provided at the bottom of the main body.

In addition, such an image forming apparatus includes a cover opening / closing sensor unit for detecting whether the cover is opened or closed, and a home position detecting sensor unit for detecting whether the image sensor is waiting at the start position. This is because the image sensor must always be in a fixed position in order to read (scan) the image.

However, in the conventional image forming apparatus, since the cover opening / closing sensor unit and the image sensor home position detecting sensor unit are separately provided in the main body of the image forming apparatus, not only does it occupy the space in the apparatus, but also increases the manufacturing cost, thereby improving work efficiency. There was a problem of deterioration.

The present invention is to solve the above-mentioned problems of the prior art, an object of the present invention is to provide an image reading apparatus that can reduce the manufacturing cost by improving the structure.

The image reading apparatus according to the present invention for achieving the above object is a flat glass provided on the upper surface of the scanning frame, the cover is hinged to the scanning frame to open and close the flat glass, provided in the lower portion of the scanning frame for reading the document An image reading apparatus comprising an image sensor, a home position detecting unit for detecting an initial position of an image sensor, and a cover opening and closing detecting unit for detecting opening and closing of a cover, the image reading apparatus comprising: a home position detecting unit and an opening and closing of a cover of an image sensor. Each sensing unit includes a first actuator linearly reciprocating and a second actuator pivoting, and each actuator is operated between a sensor unit including a pair of light emitting elements and a light receiving element.

In addition, the first and second actuators of the image reading apparatus according to the present invention have different transmittances, and have a lower transmittance upon overlapping.

Hereinafter, an image reading apparatus according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. Here, although the image reading apparatus is described as an example in this embodiment, it can be applied to an image forming apparatus such as a copying machine, a multifunction printer, etc., in which the image reading apparatus is installed through appropriate modification and modification.

1 schematically shows an image reading apparatus according to the present invention. Referring to the drawings, the image reading apparatus includes a scanning frame (1) provided on the upper part of the main body so that the scanning components are embedded therein, and a flat plate provided on the upper surface of the scanning frame (1) so that the user can place and scan the originals one by one. It includes a glass 2, a cover 3 hinged to the scanning frame 1 to open and close the flat glass 2, and an image sensor 4 for reading image information recorded in the document. A document auto feeder 5 for automatically feeding a document to enable continuous scanning is provided in the cover 3.

The image sensor 4 is provided under the flatbed glass 2 to read the image information recorded on the original placed on the flatbed glass 2 or the original conveyed by the document automatic document feeder 5 while moving in the scanning direction. do. The image sensor 4 irradiates light on the document, detects light reflected therefrom, and converts the amount of light into an electrical signal to read information from the document. As the image sensor 4, a contact image sensor (CIS), a charge coupled device (CCD), or the like may be used.

2 is a plan view showing an image reading apparatus according to the present invention. As shown in the drawing, an image sensor 4 for scanning an image is provided inside the flat glass 2 provided on the upper surface of the scanning frame 1 to linearly reciprocate in one direction (left and right directions in the drawing). Since the image sensor 4 must wait at the start position before reading the image as described above, the home frame detecting unit 10 of the image sensor 4 is provided in the scanning frame 1 to detect this.

The home position detecting unit 10 includes a first actuator 12 provided at one side of a light source provided with the image sensor 4, and a sensor unit 30 for sensing the operation of the first actuator 12. . The first actuator 12 performs a linear reciprocating motion along the scan direction.

In addition, the scanning frame 1 is provided with a cover opening and closing detection unit 20 for detecting the opening and closing of the cover (3). The cover opening / closing detection unit 20 includes a second actuator 22 provided on one side of the cover 3, and a sensor unit 30 for sensing the presence or absence of the operation of the second actuator 22. The second actuator 22 performs a rotational motion in accordance with the opening and closing of the cover 3.

According to the present invention, the first actuator 12 of the home position detecting unit 10 and the second actuator 22 of the cover opening / closing detecting unit 20 are operated in one sensor unit 30. The sensor unit 30 generally refers to an optical sensor disposed to face the light emitting device and the light receiving device so as to sense the presence and location of an object therebetween. 12 and 22 are installed to allow the light scanned by the light emitting device to be selectively sensed by the light receiving device according to the presence or absence of an actuator, thereby outputting a specific voltage value.

In addition, according to the present invention, the first actuator 12 and the second actuator 22 have different transmittances, and when the two actuators 12 and 22 overlap, the transmittance is further lowered. For example, if the transmittance of the first actuator 12 is T1 and the transmittance of the second actuator 22 is T2 and T1> T2, the transmittance (T1 +) when the two actuators 12 and 22 overlap. T2) must be lower than T2. That is, the transmittance of the actuator becomes T1> T2> T3.

Next, the operation of the image reading apparatus having the above configuration will be described with reference to FIGS. 3 and 4.

Figure 3 is a table showing the output value indicating whether the sensor unit operation of the image reading apparatus according to the present invention, Figure 4 is a graph showing the output voltage value of the sensor unit. In this embodiment, an optical sensor is used in which the output voltage value decreases as the opacity increases.

As shown, if the output value of the sensor unit 30 is A, and the transmittance of the first actuator 12 of the image sensor home position detection unit is higher than the second actuator 22 of the cover opening and closing detection unit, the total level 1 Four kinds of output voltage values can occur.

First, if the output voltage value of the sensor unit 30 is less than or equal to level 1, this means that neither the first actuator 12 of the home position sensing unit nor the second actuator 22 of the opening / closing sensing unit 20 is operated. Indicates. That is, the image sensor 4 stands by at the start position, and the cover 3 shows a closed state.

Subsequently, if the output voltage value of the sensor unit 30 is greater than level 1 and less than level 2, this means that the first actuator 12 of the home position sensing unit is operating and the second actuator 22 of the opening and closing sensing unit 20 is operated. Indicates that it is not operating. That is, the image sensor 4 is out of the starting position, and the cover 3 is in a closed state.

Subsequently, if the output voltage value of the sensor unit 30 is greater than level 2 and less than level 3, this means that the first actuator 12 of the home position sensing unit is not operated and the second actuator 22 of the opening and closing sensing unit 20 is operated. ) Indicates that it is working. That is, the image sensor 4 stands by at the start position, and the cover 3 shows an open state.

Subsequently, if the output voltage value of the sensor unit 30 exceeds level 3, this indicates that both the first actuator 12 of the home position sensing unit and the second actuator 22 of the opening / closing sensing unit 20 are operating. . That is, the image sensor 4 is out of the starting position, and the cover 3 is in an open state.

As described in detail above, the image reading apparatus according to the present invention integrates the sensor units used in the home position detecting unit of the image sensor and the opening and closing detecting unit of the cover, which are usually provided inside the main body, and each actuator operated in the sensor unit. By adjusting the transmittance of the device to detect the presence of the operation, there is an effect of reducing the space and manufacturing cost in the device.
