Abstract

A display control method in a portable terminal and a device thereof are provided to map a screen display control operation by dividing a rim area of a touch screen panel where a screen is not displayed, and to control a display of the screen by performing the mapped operation, thereby easily expanding, reducing or moving the screen. It is checked whether or not a rim area of a touch screen panel where a screen is not displayed is touched(201-205). If so, a display control operation preset in the touched area is confirmed(207). The confirmed display control operation is carried out according to a distance in which the touch is moved(209,211). The display control operation includes at least one of screen expanding, reducing, and up/down/right/left moving functions.

Method and device for controlling display in portable terminal {APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING DISPLAY IN POTABLE TERMINAL}

The present invention relates to a display control method and apparatus in a portable terminal, and more particularly, to a method and apparatus for displaying a screen by enlarging, reducing or moving a screen using an edge area of a touch screen panel in the portable terminal. In this case, the edge area of the touch screen panel refers to an area not previously used, that is, an area where a screen is not displayed.

Recently, portable terminals provide various functions and information processing functions for the convenience of users, and are also becoming small and light. With the trend toward miniaturization of the portable terminal, it is difficult to provide various input keys. Accordingly, various methods for easily inputting information even in the miniaturization state have been researched and provided. As an example, a portable terminal using a touch screen panel as an input means is currently provided.

The portable terminal having the touch screen panel as an input means provides a function of controlling the display of the screen using the touch screen panel, that is, a function of moving, enlarging or reducing the screen. The function of controlling the display of the screen by using the touch screen panel is a method of moving, enlarging or reducing the screen by detecting an area where the screen is displayed on the touch screen panel by a user and performing a corresponding operation. I'm using In the method of controlling the display of the screen using the above-described display area, it is important that each of the user interface function of the currently displayed screen and the function of controlling the display of the screen do not interfere with each other.

Therefore, in order to use the function of controlling the display of the screen by using the display area of the touch screen panel, the user interface function is temporarily stopped by entering a specific mode for controlling the screen display or by inputting a separate key button. After operating only a control function, there is an inconvenience of having to control the display of the screen.

The present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems, an object of the present invention to provide a display control method and apparatus in a portable terminal.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a method and apparatus for controlling a display screen using an edge area of a touch screen panel in a portable terminal.

It is still another object of the present invention to provide a method and apparatus for displaying a screen by enlarging, reducing, or moving the screen up, down, left, or right according to the position and movement distance of the pen area of the touch screen panel in the portable terminal. .

According to a first aspect of the present invention for achieving the above object, a display control method in a portable terminal, the process of checking whether the edge area of the touch screen panel, the screen is not displayed is touched, and when the edge area is touched And determining a display control operation preset in the touched area, and performing the identified display control operation according to a distance to which the touch is moved.

Hereinafter, a method and apparatus for displaying a screen by enlarging, reducing or moving the screen using a border area of a touch screen panel on which a screen is not displayed in a portable terminal will be described.

1 shows a block configuration of a portable terminal according to the present invention. In this case, the portable terminal includes a control unit 100, a positioning unit 102, a display unit 104, and a touch screen panel 106.

Referring to FIG. 1, the control unit (MPU: Micro-Processer Unit) 100 controls the overall operation of the portable terminal, and in addition to the normal function, the edge area of the touch screen panel according to the present invention is pen-down ( Or touch) to process a function of controlling a screen displayed on the display unit 104 by performing a predetermined operation on the pen-down area. As illustrated in FIG. 3, the border area refers to an area 305 in which the screen is not displayed on the touch screen panel. As shown in FIG. 4, each area divided into a plurality of areas is divided. Each time one-to-one mapping with an operation for controlling the display of the screen. The touch screen panel 106 recognizes input information input from a user, converts the recognition result into touch screen panel data, and outputs the result to the controller 100. The touch screen panel data includes spatial coordinate data applied to the touch screen panel 106 from a user and state data indicating whether the spatial coordinate data is continuously generated. The touch screen panel data may be formed in a form that the controller 100 may recognize and process, and may include information on a specific area input by the user.

The display unit 104 displays state information generated during the operation of the portable terminal. In addition, according to the present invention, the display unit 104 enlarges or reduces the screen or moves the screen up, down, left, or right under the control of the controller 100 to display the display.

2 illustrates a procedure of controlling a screen display using an edge area of a touch screen panel in a portable terminal according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention.

Referring to FIG. 2, the terminal first displays a predetermined screen on the display unit 104 in step 201, and then proceeds to step 203 to check whether a pen down occurs on the touch screen panel. When the pen down occurs, the terminal checks the coordinate where the pen down is generated through the positioning unit 102 in step 205 and checks whether an area corresponding to the coordinate is included in the edge area of the touch screen panel. .

If the location where the pen down occurs is not included in the edge area of the touch screen panel, the terminal determines an active area, that is, an area 303 where a screen is displayed, as shown in FIG. 3 in step 217. Control the display and terminate the algorithm according to the invention.

If the location where the pen down occurs is included in the edge area of the touch screen panel, the terminal proceeds to step 207 to confirm a predetermined operation set in the area where the pen down occurs. For example, as shown in FIG. 4, when a screen enlargement, reduction, and movement operation is mapped to a divided border area of the touch screen panel, pen down occurs in a first area of the divided border areas. The terminal may check the screen magnification operation.

In step 209, the terminal determines whether a pen drag is generated, that is, whether the pen down on the touch screen panel is moved, and when the pen is moved, in step 211, the terminal determines whether the pen drag is moved according to the distance of the pen drag. The execution degree is judged to enlarge, reduce or move the screen displayed on the display unit 104. For example, as shown in FIG. 4, when the pen down occurs in the first area and is moved by △ from the position where the pen down occurs, the terminal may enlarge the screen by Δx times. When the pen down occurs in area 2, the screen can be moved up by the distance moved from the pen down position.

In step 213, the terminal determines whether the pen is moved up, that is, the pen is moved from the touch screen panel of the terminal. When the pen up occurs, the terminal terminates the algorithm according to the present invention.

In the above description, the predetermined operation preset to the divided border area may be changed and set by a user or a developer. In addition, in the above description, the extent to which the screen is enlarged, reduced and moved according to the pen drag distance may be adjusted, but the extent to which the screen is enlarged, reduced and moved may be adjusted by using the number of touches of the edge area.

Meanwhile, in the detailed description of the present invention, specific embodiments have been described, but various modifications may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention. Therefore, the scope of the present invention should not be limited to the described embodiments, but should be determined not only by the scope of the following claims, but also by the equivalents of the claims.

As described above, the present invention maps a screen display control operation by dividing an edge area of a touch screen panel on which the screen is not displayed in the portable terminal, and performs the mapped operation when the divided area is touched. By controlling the display of, the screen can be easily enlarged, reduced or moved without having to enter additional key buttons or enter the control mode separately.
